I just recieved this a few days ago, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I never got a chance to read the actual comics...being that I live in a one horse town where there is no chance of ever having a comic book store. So that being said....please forgive me my comic brothers for only being familiar with this graphic novel?
I was very suprised at how well the writers transfered our favorite hero's into super monsters and yet still retained some or more of thier former personality. The way Spiderman still had his wit...and his guilt for things he had done. The art was outstanding too. The way the heros where destroyed versions of thier former selves, and the villians hadn't really changed all the much....notice the hobgoblin who looked no different.
Magnetos character was played out perfectly, it was amazing how he still had his elitist personality right up until his end. It's exactly how I would have expected him to go out.
I would definately recommend this title to anyone who loves comics/horror and may be looking for something a little different. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you check out the Walking Dead series, also by Robert Kirkman. I've never been a fan of the Fantastic Four, but intend to start the Ultimate Fantastic Four series just to see how all this started as well as the Exiles #85-86 concerning the Zombie Wolverine crossover.

A while ago, Mark Millar spun a tale during his run on Ultimate Fantastic Four in which an alternate reality was introduced in which Marvel's first family were zombified flesh eaters. Well, just imagine if pretty much all of the Marvel universe heroes and villains were the flesh eating undead, only they still had their powers and wits about them. Robert Kirkman, best known for his incredible Walking Dead series, knows a few things about zombies, and the yarn he spins here is one of the guiltiest pleasures you'll ever read. Magneto is seemingly the inly unaffected super-human on the planet, and he's face to face with Captain America, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Giant Man, Luke Cage, Wolverine, Daredevil, Thor, and every other Marvel hero you can name who has been zombified. Soon enough, the Silver Surfer arrives to Earth foretelling of the coming of Galactus who plans to devour the planet. And oh yeah, guess who the Marvel Zombies plan on devouring too. Sometimes predictable, loaded with dark humor, and wonderfully drawn by Sean Philips; Marvel Zombies is a fleshy treat. From Spidey's self loathing ("I can't believe I ate my wife and aunt!") to Giant Man keeping Black Panther alive and sawing off a few parts to eat, Marvel Zombies may not be a Marvel MAX title, but it's definitely not for the squeamish. A big load of fun that's over too quick, Marvel Zombies is a worthy pick up for longtime Marvel readers looking to see the company's icons in a different, slightly decomposed light.

Blasphemy! All your childhood heroes, reduced to braindead, psychotic, maggot-infested, sloppy soulless idiots craving human flesh. Oh joy.
I wonder with all the superhero movies coming out, the interest in the comic books had been slipping. Maybe something drastic needed to be done to rejuvinate the guys in leotards. Why not make them zombies?
Well, it's a pretty fun trip. Luckily this wastes no time with any long explanations or story development. Many of our good guys are zombified, trapped in another dimension with an insatiable craving for human flesh.
Watch an evil Spidey, Cap, Wolvie, Hulk, Thor and others try to hunt down and devour the unchanged Magneto, Silver Surfer, or whoever they can find to supress their monstrous appetite.
This book has plenty of humor mixed in with the grotesque chomping. Glossy pages, vibrant colors, outstanding artwork, and clever writing. Plenty of zombie attributes also come into play--like severed limbs or decapitations that are harmless unless the brain gets damaged.
This is a fun read, but I can't help but feel a twinge of contempt for this development. My invincible heroes, reduced to this? Plus I have concerns for the effect this will have on the future of all these characters. This series will probably get real old real quick, and I'm curious to see how they can go forward from here.

WARNING! This book WILL offend a lot of fans.
I'm a life-long Marvel Comics fan and somewhat of a Zombie enthusiast as well. I also like chocolate and Chinese food but it doesn't mean they go well mixed together.
This shameful thing's writer, Mr. Rober Kirkman, is perhaps the greatest writer of our time and in his original series The walking Dead, published by Image Comics, he has created the most amazing stories about living, breathing flawed human beings among a global plague of living-dead fighting and trying to survive at all costs. Great stuff!!
Not the case here...
Prepare to watch your beloved MARVEL super heroes (not super-powered zombies, mind you, but the actual heroes and their distinctive personalities) banding together to commit the most heinous of deeds: cannibalism. Not mindless cannibalism but the organized, talk-to-the-victim-until-you-eat-him kind. And it is not funny at all.
The scariest, truly terrifying part is that most people think of this as a "funny" book.
And since it IS endorsed and published but MARVEL COMICS itself, I guess there is no one to blame for tarnishing the concept of "Super-Heroes".
Compare this feeble tale with the excellent, awe-inspirig story published on Spider-man v. 2 # 36 (regarding the heroes and even some villain's reaction to the events of 9/11) and you'll see what I mean when I say MARVEL ZOMBIES tarnishes the concept of Super -Heroes.
Only because you can publish an idea doesn't mean you HAVE to. Shame on you, Kirkman. For not having the good taste to say no and on MARVEL, for reminding me, forcing me to believe that their comics are nothing but drawings.

Y'know, I've been a comics fan for a really long time. I've been collecting Amazing Spider-Man since I was nine, and I've got over 400 issues. As such, I've seen some really plodding stories over the years. I've seen clumsy tales with rehashed dialogue and hamfisted scenes, usually in service to some all-encompassing crossover or tie-in.
So when I heard they were combining the idea of a zombie film and the Marvel universe, I had some excitement, but also some nagging fears.
All that being said, -Marvel Zombies- has to be the worst thing I have ever seen. It's horrible on a scale that just leaves me stunned, near-speechless, and wondering what bizarre train of thought led anyone to believe this was a worthwhile project. It's way too wordy, the dialogue is flat and leaden, and the whole thing reeks of camp. The -bad- kind of camp. The kind where writer Robert Kirkman didn't seem to put any serious thought to his story, and apparently didn't think the readers were worth any, either.
I can't even begin to talk about the whole Silver Surfer/ Galactus plot. Not because it's spoiler, but because it just hits a level of ridiculousness that makes computers freeze up, fourth graders scratch their heads in confusion, and Hollywood producers salivate...
