Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Criminologist Denny Colt let the world believe he was dead in order to continue his war against crime as the masked vigilanted known only as The Spirit. Through his career, he fought some of the world's deadliest villains with nothing more than his wits, his fists and his tongue planted firmly in his cheek.

The blue-suit clad, fedora-wearing crime fighter created by Will Eisner starred in hundreds of newspaper adventure stories that thrilled readers, and Eisner's groundbreaking style utilized the comics format to its greatest strengths.

Eisner's masterwork continues through one of its greatest periods in this volume, featuring such classic stories as "Future Death," "The Meanest Man in the World," "Darling and the Octopus" and "The Hero."

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Close to last and close to least   October 2, 2007
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

By 1951, the year these reprints were from, Eisner was busy forming American Visuals Inc. and producing training materials for the military. Jules Feiffer who had been helping with scripting for the past several years was drifted and was virtually gone after mid-March. The great majority of stories in this volume are either not by Eisner or are partial or total reprints of stories already seen in earlier volumes. For die-hard completists only.

5 out of 5 stars Spirit Archives #22   September 19, 2007

This latest release from DC of the Spirit Archives [#22] is up to the usual quality of past Spirits that Eisner has had a hand in. Crisp story telling and great art. This will end with strip #583, because after that Eisner will extensively helped out on the art chores by others. But get this volume by all means!
