Product Description Tobias is a skilled Dom, able to bring even the most hesitant submissive around. Noah is a man in need of just that. He wants to sub badly, but has yet to find someone he believes can take him where he needs to go. Through a series of encounters in the world of bondage and discipline, Noah reveals why he has trouble trusting, why he needs such a firm, steady hand. Tobias may allow himself to dominate, but he has trouble letting himself love. Still, Tobias can't resist Noah's charms, and the two of them set about making a scene for themselves, one that works for them and their unique set of problems. They learn to love, but can they stay together while they explore each others' secrets, in a world where all is laid bare and emotions run high? From authors Chris Owen, writer of the popular Bareback, and Jodi Payne, writer of String of Pearls comes a romance on the deviant side, where love is all tied up with the need to submit, the need to dominate, and the need to share a life of exploration and care. These two skilled authors create a world that's hard to resist, and a book that's even harder to put down.

a favourite already April 9, 2006 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful, sexy book. The dynamic between a dominant and a submissive man is thoroughly explored--showing that both of them have needs and desires that the other can fulfil.
Both Noah and Tobias are aware of their sexual and emotional needs, but neither of them has found what they were looking for yet in other men. This is not a story of an experienced dominant moulding a man who is new to submission (as is so often the case): Noah is a man who has tried, enjoyed and been hurt by submission before, and finds in Tobias that Someone who knows how far to push him, and how to cherish him. Tobias in his turn revels in the honesty of Noah's responses.
The characters are very human. The story is told from Tobias's, the dominant man, point of view, but we see as far into Noah's psyche as we could want as he lays himself bare to Tobias.
The most fantastical elements of the story are, I suppose, the security and wealth of the club where Noah and Tobias are introduced to each other, and Tobias's entire building on his farm devoted to sexual play and "scenes". Since each of these settings provides wonderful, erotic, and emotional encounters between Noah and Tobias, I am prepared to forgive all!
I have read and reread Deviations: Submissions in the short time I have owned it, and can confidently say that it is already one of my favourite pieces of erotica.
Fantastic Touching Story!! December 23, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I absolutely loved the story and the characters! Story and characters were well devloped.Certainly this is a different BDSM scene from many other books I have read. This is a touching story of a Dom and a sub and their respective lives and loves in the world of BDSM. I loved both characters which have their flaws and sensitivities. Certainly Tobias is a most thoughtful Dominant and Noah a willing submissive who has a lot to learn. The story is refreshing and enlightening but also very erotic, and sensual. Tobias shows Noah that there are more way to dominate than physical pain. But when need be Tobias can deliver the whip! Another good read from Chris Owen. Have already ordered the sequel!
Hot BDSM Romance December 2, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I really enjoy M/M erotica and romance. But, I wasn't so sure about gay BDSM. This book totally changed my mind! The characters are engaging, the story is realistic and the sex is hot. But, there is also a deeply felt relationship beginning between Tobias and Noah that makes the reader want more. The BDSM aspects can be a little uncomfortable to someone who isn't involved in that (like me), but no more uncomfortable than stories that have elements of rape, danger or abuse to propel a plot. I devoured this book, and the sequel "Deviations: Dominance" is a couple of days. If you are a fan of gay romance, do yourself a favor and try this.
Surprisingly emotional! May 1, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am not into dominance/submission/bondage/affliction stories as they seem cold and even offensive. However deviations:submission is a story with a heart. It is about 2 lonely men, Tobias and Noah, who need each other to love and nurture. It took a while to be comfortable with their dominant/submssion master/slave sex interplay. But one does understand "why" and appreciate the underlying emotions throughout.
a novel filled with romance, sparkling sex, & a little pain April 8, 2007 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
MY FAVORITE BOOK IS BAREBACK BY CHRIS OWEN. AFTER I READ BAREBACK I BEGAN READING ALL OF HIS BOOKS. WITH THE HELP OF JODI PAYNE HE HAS PROVIDED READERS WITH A VERY WELL WRITTEN BOOK. IT INVOLVES TOBIAS A DOM WHO HAS BEEN AWAY FROM THE SCENE FOR SOME MONTHS BECAUSE OF HIS HEARTBREAK OVER HIS INVOLVEMENT WITH HIS THEN SUB PHANTOM. ON HIS 41ST BIRTHDAY HE DECEIDED TO GO BACK TO THE S&M CLUB WHERE HE WAS A MEMBER. THE OWNER WAS A CLOSE FRIEND AND THRILLED TO SEE HIM AGAIN. EVERYONE STARED AT TOBIAS AS HE WAS A WELL KNOW AND WELL LIKED DOM. EVEN HIS OLD LOVER AND SUB. PHAN STILL LOVED HIM. NOT IN LOVE WITH HIM BUT LOVED HIM. TOBIAS FELT THE SAME TOWARD PHAN. BRADFORD INTRODUCED TOBIAS TO NOAH, A GOOD LOOKING MAN IN HIS LATE 20'S. BRADFORD TOLD THEM HE THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE GOOD TOGETHER AND LEFT THEM ALONE. NOAH HAD BEEN WITH A FEW MASTERS BUT THEY NEVER SEEMED TO WORK OUT. HE DEFINITLY WAS NOT INTO DEEP PAIN AND CAGES SCARED HIM. IT WAS UP TO TOBIAS TO FIND OUT WHY. HE NOTICED NOAH HAD A SCAR ON HIS SHOULDER AND DECEIDED TO ASK HIM ABOUT IT LATER ON. YOU'LL ENJOY WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TOBIAS DISCOVERS NOAH'S FIRST DOM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TORMENT HE FEELS. AFTER STUDYING AND LISTENING TO NOAH HE SAID HE'D TRAIN HIM. NOW ALL NOAH HAD TO DO WAS SIGN A CONTRACT. THROUGH TIME NOAH AND TOBIAS FALL IN LOVE. BECAUSE OF THE CLOSENESS BETWEEN TOBIAS AND PHAN NOAH FEELS THREATENED. HE CALLED PHAN AND ASKED IF THEY COULD MEET. WITHOUT HIS KNOWLEDGE PHAN CALLED TOBIAS TELLING HIM ABOUT NOAH ASKING HIM OUT FOR LUNCH. LATER WHEN NOAH FOUND OUT HE BECAME UPSET. NOAH AND PHAN ENDED UP LIKING EACH OTHER. NOW REMEMBER I SAID LIKED NOT LOVED. I JUST GAVE YOU A SLIGHT INDICATION ABOUT THE CONTENTS OF THIS BOOK. THERE IS SO MANY EXCITING INCIDENTS INSIDE OF THIS MARVELOUS BOOK. I THINK DEVIATIONS: SUBMISSION BY CHRIS OWEN & JODIE PAYNE IS ONE HECK OF A BOOK! AFTER YOU READ THE FIRST IN THIS SERIES YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF BUYING THE SECOND BOOK DEVIATIONS: DOMINATION. YOU'LL ALSO DISCOVER THE SECOND BOOK IS AS ENTERTAINING IF NOT MORE SO THAN THE FIRST. NOW FOR A THIRD BOOK. HUM, NOW THERE'S A GOOD IDEA.
