A site for a sight! July 30, 2002 24 out of 26 found this review helpful
Blackgenteleman.com is a collection of provocative short stories, each told with candor and frankness. They will entice and entertain you as the female characters find fruition when they connect through cyberspace with some sexy Black men.DUPLICITY by Zane Identical twins Neena and Nia are looking for significant others, Neena finds Jacob on the BG.com site and they make plans to meet. But an unexpected business trip on Christmas Eve curtails her planned rendezvous with Jacob. Because she is running late, Neena asks Nia to email Jacob and explain her situation. Well Nia emails him alright, but she does not deliver Neena's message. What she delivers has you shaking your head. Nia is now wondering if she can keep Neena from finding out what she did. LESSONS LEARNED by Shonda Cheeks Julian and Clarissa have been together since high school and had planned to marry after college. Lurking in the background is Clark who always wanted what Julian had. A surprise visit to Julian's dorm breaks Clarissa's heart; and Clark seizes the moment. Six years later, marriage to Clark is unfulfilling, her friends suggests the BG.com site. Clarissa hesitates, because she is still a married woman. But... she goes anyway, and there in all of his 'fione' glory is her Julian. Now the questions are will she email Julian? Or does she want to work on her marriage? YOUR MESSAGE HAS BEEN SENT by J.D. Mason Maureen 'MO' Beckman, widowed for three years, finally realizes that she did not die with her husband. As the director of a neighborhood community center, she submerges herself in her job. But Kevin, the new photography instructor, has her looking for the first time, in a long time, at a man. Skeptical about the dating game, she calls her brother; he suggests she go to the BG.com site. There she finds a personal file on of all people, Kevin. What ensues is a cat and mouse game as Maureen sends mysterious emails and Kevin tries to figure out who 'MO' is. This one is a sizzler. THE ADVENTURES OF THE BOLD AND BOURGEOIS by Eileen M. Johnson Akinleye is a twenty-five year old, educated, beautiful woman with an upper six figure salary. She paid her car off in two years and the balance on her condo has been cut in half. Akinleye is in total control at work, but when she takes off her power suit at home, she is alone. When friends suggest the BG.com site, she tells them searching for a man on the Internet is for desperate women. But that attitude is short lived once Akinleye accesses that very site. What she finds is hotter than any story she could read in her Cosmopolitan Magazine. DELUSIONS by Zane Tasha is tired of the current dating scenes; on the BG.com site she meets the man of her dreams. When Rinaldo calls to say he's coming for a visit, she knows her dreams have come true. Once he arrives, Tasha is wondering who possessed his body. This is not the man she has been emailing the last four months. Ignoring warnings from everybody, Tasha still wants to take this relationship from the basement to the attic. But a visit to the local post office has Tasha running scared. I think the Blackgentleman.com site is live, but I know the book, Blackgentlemen.com is all the way live. A good spot for this book is as close to your bed as possible. Cyberspace doesn't get any better than this; you need to read this book. Reviewed by aNN Brown of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
Oh How Fun! December 4, 2002 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Oh How Fun!Blackgentleman.com is a short anthology presented to us by Zane, the author of Addicted, The Heatseekers, and The Sex Chronicles I and II. She and three other authors, Shonda Cheekes, J.D. Mason, and Eileen M. Johnson, bring us four very different stories that are all linked by the internet site Blackgentlemen. com. (Which incidentally is a real site.) Zane, known for her racy sexual antics in her stories, presents five stories (the first and the last story written by her) that show five different experiences of women who meet men on this website. The first story Duplicity shows us how much twins actually do share. Lesson Learned, penned by Ms Cheekes shows us how something built on lies will soon crumble. Your Message Sent, penned by J.D. Mason, shows us that even though the Internet is readily available, it is still a tool of mystery. The Adventures of the Bold and Bourgeois, penned by Ms. Johnson, shares with us how we can miss what is good for us in our quest for perfection. And Delusions show us that things are not always what they seem. I read this and was pleasantly surprised. I did not have a great expectation one way or the other but I had fun reading it. The stories are fun and entertaining and in classic Zane style we do experience the pleasures of the flesh as well as a twist in her stories. Do not pick this up expecting a literary work that will be destined for greatness because you will be disappointed. If you are in for something light, entertaining, a little sexy, or quirky, some romance and even a bit of suspense you might want to check it out.
Not What I expected!!! July 6, 2003 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book is not what I expected. Zane is one of my best authors especially with erotica, and I was looking forward to reading her story, but she unfortunately disappointed me. I like when the characters find love that is all good and fine but can the sex be a little more detailed??? I am here in Iceland and a tad bit frustrated and I was waiting on this book for 2 weeks and I finally get it and it is not what I wanted to read. The only author that comes close to what I was looking for is Shonda Cheekes and even she did not reveal as much as I had hoped. If you are looking for pure down and dirty erotica you are not going to get it in this book...
I won't be logging onto Blackgentlemen.com anytime soon December 31, 2003 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
The Short of it: Not worth the money. 5 stories only one steamy enough to merit discussion. The Long of it: Duplicity - ZANE I eagerly anticipated this story by the legendary Zane. I must say I was disappointed- this story had no semblance of realness at all. Page after page, I was wondering if this story could get any more unrealistic, and boy did it!!!! The one love scene that had the potential to sizzle, burned out in only half a paragraph. Generally one can see themselves in the same shoes of romance novel characters but NOT in this story. It read like a cheaply put together porno flick without the steamy sexy action! I MUST comment on the talk show reunion-Come on that was utterly ridiculous-those pages could have been filled with passion- not an mindlessly unreal situation. Though I am disappointed, I will not cast Zane off totally. Lesson Learned- SHONDA CHEEKES This was a mediocre story of love lost a long time ago-the blackgentlemen.com website plays a small role in the overall story. This story lacked Luster and passion, it was just OK. It does not make me want to ready any additional novels written by Shonda Cheekes. Your Message Has Been Sent- J.D. MASON Seeing how this book was billed as sexy- this story does not measure up at all- The ONE brief sexual encounter takes place so deep into the story- ONE could almost overlook it. Some of the seemingly main characters are more detailed than necessary. The e-mail exchanges are the ONLY bright moments in this story. Leading the reader to believe that the author was going to turn up the heat when the two main characters are finally together! But NOOOO the paragraph and half of their long awaited passion, was merely a yawn of what could have been a steamy, sexy encounter. After the short hook-up, we are fast-forwarded to days, possibly weeks later, with no further glimpse of any passionate encounters- I know these were short stories, but come on the readers were left totally UNFULFILLED. The Adventures of The Bold and Bourgeois- EILEEN M. JOHNSON Great Story-including a catchy title. This story is very descriptive- the e-mails are funny and entertaining. The steamy details are short, but well described. Overall this is by far the best story in the book. I eagerly look forward to reading Eileen Johnson again. Delusions ZANE Ok I can sum up this story in one word-STUPID- this story is stupid on so many levels, I don't know where to begin. The main character is stupid for meeting her blackgentlemen.com guy so soon. Stupid for not listening to her friends AND family. Stupid for ignoring ALL of the red flags, her internet pal was giving. Stupid for having sex with him so soon- at the airport parking lot- this was not sexy, this was incredulously dumb. Of course the character development was poor and lacking so the reader does not know if this was the main characters regular way of life or not. Stupid for expecting the reader to run and log into Blackgentlemen.com after the horrible encounter this main character had- SHE even gave her computer away after this experience. Stupid ending which of course is NOT surprising to the reader, since the beginning, and middle were stupid too. Stupid for saving this story for the very last story. For a book dedicated to blackgentlemen.com website- I am not so sure, I am eager to read any additional books by ZANE. I know for certain, that I am not planning to correspond with any of the so- called gentlemen from the website, speaking of which, it has not been updated since 2001, all the guys on there now, are probably in jail. Overall this book is overrated, not a good representation of the website (Obviously since it is not up to date) Save your money and buy Eric Jerome Dickey - his detailed love scenes are generally steamy and 3-4 pages long.
A waste of time January 10, 2003 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
I read Zane's story Duplicity, how predictable can a story be. I started on the second story but it did not keep my interest. In my opinion this book is a waste of paper and ink. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
