Richelle Mead has a way of making her readers feel every emotion (happiness, anger, sadness) that her characters go through. It is such a fulfilling journey reading one of her books. Usually when some stories are told we as readers have a safety net. We feel certain things will not happen to the main character because they are the main characters. Richelle is not afraid to make her stories compeling and take away our safety net to logically move the story along. We have no choice but to come back and see how it all unfolds. I'm lucky that I discovered her and I hope other people will take a chance on her.
With that being said, Shadow Kiss was the best book in this series. This series just keeps getting better and better. I do not want to ruin the book for anyone so I'll just say that this book is a game changer. Nothing will be the same and it was heartbreaking to read. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I hope we don't have to wait too long :)
PS - if you haven't done this already look up what each of the Tarot cards meant for Rose and Dimitri....especially Rose....it was interesting...

I LOVED this book. I got it in the mail yesterday and finsished it last night. First, I was pleasantly surprised to find how big the book was. It's the size of Vampire Academy plus half of Frostbite. The more the better I say!! Second, the plot was just fantastic. It moved quickly and didn't drag on and the transition from Frostbite to this book flowed very nicely. Theres lots of drama with Rose and Liss and Christian and Dimitri and Adrian that just keeps going throughout the whole book. I don't want to give away the ending but I must say that although I was shocked by the outcome, I definitly saw it coming. We definitely see a resolution with the Rose-Dimitri relationship and we end the book with a huge cliffhanger that made me feel very sad that I have to wait probably another year to see what happens next. Overall, this is a really good book and a great addition to the Vampire Academy series.

The Vampire Academy series is addicting, & "Shadow Kiss" is the best yet. As usual, the plot movies quickly, so I read the book in 2 days. There are so many developments, one being that Adrian looks like he will be around to stay. I'm very glad about that; Adrian adds a lot of humor to these books, & he is a little shady. Who knows what could happen with him later?
I can't give away the biggest change because I don't want to ruin the the surprise for anyone. Rose & Dimitri's relationship is forever changed, but I enjoyed the way that it played out. I think it's a good thing to irrevocably shake things up in a book. Otherwise, the plot gets too predictable. "Shadow Kiss" is anything but predictable. In the last chapter, Rose makes a huge decision, which leads the series into a direction I would have never anticipated, but I know that Richelle Mead will make the next book even better than "Shadow Kiss."

The third book in the Vampire Academy series has everything and more that a reader expects in a Paranormal Young Adult series. In Shadow Kiss, characters develop, relationships are tested, and the plot is fleshed-out and brings out the brilliancy of Mead's careful planning from the previous two novels, and we also see clues and foreshadowing for whatever's next in the series. I can truthfully say that this is perhaps the most developed and well-structured book of the series.
To begin, the protagonist Rose is dealing with the events that happened only a few weeks back with the Strigoi. Though time has helped heal some of the wounds, she is clearly still affected by events of the past, which leads to a darker change in her personality that we have never seen before, along with new features that seem to come with her being "shadow-kissed". As usual, she is snarky and portrays some immature qualities of a teen, but has already grasped some important aspects of adulthood.
Her relationship with Lissa begins to change slightly as well, and we see less of her in this book as Rose is not guarding her for her field training. We get to see more development and rise of Christian and Adrian as main characters, as well as Eddie and the queen as secondary ones. Lissa's bond with Rose is beginning to show more negative aspects, and Rose carries an even larger weight with being Lissa's guardian, something that she is beginning to resent. And of course, there is Rose's relationship with Dimitri, which expands even further in this novel after steadily increasing in the first two books. Whether they can resist each other and stay on the `right' path will be determined in this book.
The plot builds up quietly, steadily gaining speed until the climax, which will leave readers clutching their books with tension and speed through the pages with eagerness to see what happens next. The ending is heart wrenching and emotionally draining, yet the emotions of the scene are so powerful that it will leave everyone feeling Rose's loss and impatient to get their hands on the next book.

I absolutely love this book series. I went out yesterday, and the local B&N didn't have it in stock! I was so upset, so I went to the closest Borders, and they had ONE COPY. I bought it at 12:30, and by 4:30, I was closing the book. This so far is my favorite, because Rose starts questioning her role as a Dhampir guardian, and there's more of Andre, who is one of my favorite characters. I have an immense dislike for the queen, but the character for Christian is becoming more defined. I wish more had happened with regard to Mana and the tard kids who caused so much trouble, but I suppose that will be in the next book! I can't wait! I was also happy that this book was a bit larger than the others ;) As a fast reader, it's always a happy sight to see the book you want is bigger than expected!
