Product Description
In 2004, David Ray Griffin published The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11. Translated into several languages, it helped spark a worldwide movement demanding "9/11 truth." Even as it became increasingly outdated, it continued to be widely cited as the best introduction to the issues.

Griffin has now written The New Pearl Harbor Revisited, which provides a chapter-by-chapter updating of the information provided in that earlier book. It shows that the case against the official account constructed by independent researchers - who now include architects, engineers, physicists, pilots, politicians, and former military officers - is far stronger than it was in 2004, leaving no doubt that 9/11 was a false flag operation, designed to give the Bush-Cheney administration a pretext to attack oil-rich Muslim nations.

Taken together, these two books provide everything one needs to make an informed decision about 9/11 - whether one is a journalist, a political leader, a religious leader, or an ordinary citizen concerned about truth, democracy, and the rule of law.

5 out of 5 stars The Definitive Treatment of 9/11   September 8, 2008

In THE NEW PEARL HARBOR REVISITED, David Ray Griffin provides a brilliant and much-needed companion to his path-breaking and movement-building book on 9/11, The New Pearl Harbor (NPH; 2004). Now, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of those horrific events, Griffin surveys in detail all the main lines of evidence against the official account of 9/11 to have emerged during the last four years. THE NEW PEARL HARBOR REVISITED (NPHR) has been designed as volume 2 of a two-volume set with NPH as volume 1; together they provide a thorough and up-to-date case against the official conspiracy theory (they can be bought separately, of course).

Griffin has already published four other books that provide in-depth analysis of most of the evidence to have emerged since 2004. NPHR's main purpose is to provide an easily accessible survey of all of the new evidence, so that it is now possible for a beginner to the subject (including journalists and members of Congress) to master its enormous complexity simply by reading two books. NPHR is structured identically to NPH; each chapter in NPHR comments and builds on the corresponding chapter in NPH. Much of the content is entirely new; there are many facts and analyses in NPHR which Griffin presents for the first time, and which literally make the book an up-to-the-minute statement of the case.

In the Preface, Griffin explains why he undertook to "update" The New Pearl Harbor. In the Introduction he outlines the continued failure of the press to investigate any of the questions raised against the official account, and the lame attempts, especially by the main "progressive" or "left" appendages of the press, to portray such questioning as lunacy. He provides a brief overview of the history of "false-flag" operations, including the Pentagon's Operation Northwoods, halted by President Kennedy. Griffin then argues that the term "conspiracy theory" is used dishonestly to prevent investigation of the claims of critics (and never to describe the government's theory about 19 Arab hijackers controlled from a cave in Afghanistan).

The very substantial first chapter tackles two major issues, the timing of events related to flights AA 11 and UA 175 and the collapses of the WTC buildings. Griffin shows that the 9/11 Commission's new timeline is contradicted by much solid evidence and is inherently unbelievable. The Commission claims that the military was not notified by the FAA of the flight emergency on flight UA 175 until much later than the time the military itself had claimed during the years between 9/11 and the publication of the Commission's Report in 2004. The Commission based its new claim on the "NORAD Tapes," a set of purportedly genuine tapes of telephone communications between the FAA and NORAD on the morning of 9/11. But these tapes were never produced until 2004, after the glaring holes in the Pentagon's defense against the charge of a standdown had become evident, and are probable fakes, which Griffin shows would have been easy to produce. The strongest indication that they are indeed fakes is that they contradict mountains of highly diverse independent lines of evidence.

Then he treats the new official story about how the Twin Towers collapsed, as presented in the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) Report of 2005. He thoroughly deconstructs NIST's five "crucial claims": (i) that designers of the buildings had not anticipated the possibility of airliner impacts; (ii) that many core and peripheral columns were severed by the plane impacts, and that fire-proofing material was stripped off many other core columns; (iii) that the now-unprotected core columns were then weakened by fire to the point of buckling; (iv) that the floors then sagged and pulled the perimeter columns inward; and (v) that the downward momentum of the upper portions of the buildings was so great that they collapsed "essentially in free fall," i.e. that there was virtually no resistance at all to the fall through the undamaged lower portions of the buildings. For each of these claims Griffin is easily able to show that NIST in fact provides no supporting evidence for them!

He then proceeds to demonstrate that NIST ignored vast amounts of relevant evidence for controlled demolition of the buildings: explosions witnessed by first responders; horizontal ejections of huge sections of steel perimeter columns; melting of steel, indicating temperatures far higher than can be reached by jet-fuel and office-materials fires; and residues indicating explosives were used, including iron and aluminum microspheres in dust from the WTC (a typical product of thermite reactions) and "red chips" in the dust with thermite's chemical signature.

Griffin concludes Chapter 1 with a survey of the strong evidence for controlled demolition of WTC 7, the 47-story skyscraper that was not struck by a plane, had only minor fires inside, and yet collapsed into its footprint late in the afternoon at free-fall speed (in under six seconds). Although tasked with an explanation, NIST had still not provided one when Griffin's book went to press. Griffin lays out in detail the many explanatory challenges still ahead for the agency, including the vertical, symmetrical collapse; the pool of melted steel underneath the debris pile for weeks afterwards; the free-fall speed of collapse; the similarity of the collapse to classic controlled demolition; the testimony by NYC officials Barry Jennings and Michael Hess reporting explosions inside hours before the building collapsed; the foreknowledge, hours before, that the building was going to fall; the array of evidence that the building was intended to fall in the morning at about the same time as the Towers; the media's premature announcement of its collapse; and Larry Silverstein's evident admission that the building was demolished. (Now that NIST's report on WTC 7 has finally appeared, one can see that it fulfilled Griffin's expectation that it would simply ignore all the evidence that is inconsistent with its fire theory of the collapse.)

In Chapter 2, Griffin takes up the many developments since 2004 with respect to Flight 77 and the events that occurred at the Pentagon. He shows that Solicitor General Ted Olson's claim to have received phone calls from his wife Barbara on Flight 77 cannot be true: it is self-contradictory (sometimes he claimed she called on a cell phone, and at other times on a seat-back phone), and it has even been abandoned by the FBI in its summary evidence of all phone calls from all the flights submitted at the Zacarias Moussaoui trial in 2006, which said that no connected call was made by her. These claimed calls from Barbara Olson were the principal "evidence" put forward to substantiate the assertion that the Flight 77 was still in the air and headed toward Washington D.C., and that it was hijacked by Arab Muslims.

Griffin then presents a detailed analysis of a broad array of physical evidence indicating that the Pentagon was not struck by a Boeing 757: photos of the damage to the outside of the building; lack of suitable debris; lack of video evidence; lack of time-change parts from the planes; no flight data recorder with the correct serial number has ever been produced; lack of a seismic signal of such an impact; the inexplicable C-Ring hole inside the Pentagon; the contradictory eye-witness evidence; the implausibility of terrorists striking the West Wing, farthest away from the offices of the top brass; and the known inability of Hani Hanjour to fly an airliner with the skill required by the claimed 330-degree downward spiral at high speed.

Again Griffin shows that the 9/11 Commission has distorted and suppressed evidence for the evident standdown of the air defense system, principally by creating a new timeline of events (based again on the dubious "NORAD Tapes") of Flight 77 and thereby claiming the FAA did not notify the Pentagon of the flight emergency in time to intercept the plane. This claim falls for the same reason it does in the cases of flights 11 and 175: it contradicts reams of evidence from multiple independent sources, and is supported only by the Pentagon's and the Commission's claim that the tapes are genuine. In addition Griffin shows that the Commission's claims that no interceptor aircraft were available at Andrews Air Base, and that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and acting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Richard Myers were unavailable to coordinate a defensive response, are false.

Griffin also surveys witness accounts of bombs inside the Pentagon, considers the question why there was no evacuation of the building (even under the Commission's claimed timeline there was ample time for evacuation), asks why Wedges 1 and 2 might have been selected by the real perpetrators, shows that the Commission suppressed the account of Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta that is most plausibly interpreted as indicating that a standdown order had been given by Vice President Dick Cheney to prevent interception of a craft approaching the Pentagon, and several other important lines of evidence.

The many mysteries of Flight 93 over Pennsylvania are the subject of Chapter 3. Griffin's analysis of the evidence developed since the publication of NPH in 2004 has led to a fundamental shift in his perspective on Flight 93. He no longer assumes, as he did at the time of the earlier book, that phone calls from the plane provide any evidence for what occurred onboard. This is because it is now clear that cell phone calls from planes at high altitude were technologically impossible on 9/11. And yet, family members and others evidently received cell phone calls that morning from people on the flight. As there is no basis to imagine all the recipients are lying, they must have been deceived. Griffin shows that voice morphing technology existed at the time, as well as freely-available devices to fake caller identification numbers, so that it was possible to place calls to family members which would appear to be genuine cell phone calls, as they reported to the press.

Perhaps in response to the growing awareness of these technological facts, in 2006 the FBI abandoned its earlier claims that a large number of cell phone calls were placed from UA 93. The agency reduced the number to just two, purportedly from below 5000 feet in elevation, and claimed that the other calls were all from seat-back phones. This late reversal, however, does not explain away the detailed claims by call recipients to have received cell phone calls. Those calls had to have been faked, and if they were, then the purported seat-back calls had to have been faked too.

Griffin also surveys new evidence regarding the alleged crash site, principally the lack of substantial debris of any kind at the site itself, while debris rained down over a wide area, several miles in diameter, including clothing, books, papers, and human remains. He destroys the 9/11 Commission's claim, based again on the spurious "NORAD Tapes," that the military was not notified of the emergency on Flight 93 in time to have responded, quoting military personnel who claimed they were notified and ready. He shows that the Commission's claim that there was no time for Cheney to issue a shootdown order is also false. He concludes that the case for Flight 93 having been shot down by the US military is quite strong, and that the official account is false in virtually every respect.

In the very short chapters 4 and 5 Griffin provides brief additional arguments relating to President Bush's strange behavior in the classroom in Florida on the morning of 9/11, and the many indications that the US government had long envisioned the possibility of such attacks and had trained for them (despite post-9/11 denials). In addition he shows the 9/11 Commission's dismissal of the possibility of insider trading in the "put options" on airlines and other stocks the week before 9/11 to be based on circular reasoning and therefore unreliable.

In Chapter 6 Griffin discusses developments in the evidence of hidden connections between the Bush, bin Laden and Saudi royal families. He then explores new revelations concerning US government obstruction of investigations into the activities of al-Qaeda prior to 9/11, including blocking FBI investigations in Phoenix, Minneapolis and Chicago. And he treats in detail the suppression of the testimony of Sibel Edmonds regarding this blocking of investigations and its significant connection to the Valerie Plame Wilson case and other indications of illegal trafficking in nuclear weapons technologies. He then presents much new evidence regarding the true identities and characteristics of the "hijackers," and examines the question whether there is in fact any solid evidence for the existence of Arab Muslim hijackers. Not surprisingly, it all dissipates into thin air when closely examined, leading Griffin to conclude, "it now appears that there is no good evidence for hijackers at all." He then reviews in detail the information derived from Operation Able Danger, concluding that it, along with other evidence, suggests "reason to suspect that the `hijackers' were really paid assets."

Griffin surveys evidence for the motives that the highest levels of the US government would have had for orchestrating the 9/11 attacks in Chapter 7. He examines the pre-9/11 planning to attack Afghanistan (to control oil and natural gas flows from Central Asia and to secure new military bases in the region), and comparable planning to attack Iraq (to seize Iraqi oil, control its export, and establish military bases in another key geostrategic area). He then shows that the 9/11 Commission suppressed all mention of such motives, as well as of the discourse used by key Bush administration personnel, while members of PNAC (The Project for the New American Century) before his election (such as the idea of "a New Pearl Harbor") and on the day itself and in its immediate aftermath (such as "opportunity"). Griffin shows that the Commission never mentioned Operation Northwoods or well-known false-flag operations that the US instigated such as Operation Gladio, and never examined the possibility that the attacks were orchestrated by the Bush-Cheney administration as a pretext to launch its pre-established agenda.

Chapter 8 illustrates, Griffin says, "especially clearly the extent to which the production of The 9/11 Commission Report was a cover-up operation." He surveys the lack of hard evidence that Osama bin Laden was really involved in the attacks; the admitted failure by the Commission to verify the veracity of the information obtained by torture from Khalid Sheik Mohammed (the principal source for the "facts" presented by the Commission regarding the planning of the attacks by al-Qaeda); the criminal travesty of justice at the Military Commissions trials at Guantanamo; the expert opinion of military and intelligence professionals from all over the world who strongly dispute that Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda had the capability to orchestrate the attacks; and the concealment by the Commission of the history of secret payments to al-Qaeda by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Chapter 9 presents a succinct summary of the main evidence of complicity by the Bush-Cheney administration in the 9/11 attacks. Griffin shows that the Commission never asked the most fundamental question about the crime, "who benefits?" It simply asserted that al-Qaeda had a motive, while ignoring massive evidence that top-level members of the US government had numerous powerful motivations. Griffin then lists 32 new items of evidence for official complicity to add to the list of 24 he provided in NPH.

In the final chapter, Griffin makes an overpowering case for a new investigation into the crimes of 9/11, because the 9/11 Commission, nominally under the control of Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, was in reality controlled by a White House insider, Philip Zelikow, and utterly failed to fulfill its official mandate "to provide the fullest possible account" of the attacks. Griffin presents a devastating expose of Zelikow's methodical construction of a cover-up to protect his superiors in the Bush administration. A special treat is a very long footnote providing a withering critique of Philip Shenon's book on the 9/11 Commission.

This powerful chapter is a fitting conclusion to Griffin's critique of the 9/11 Commission Report, begun in 2004 immediately after the publication of NPH, and developed and deepened year by year since. Thanks substantially to his own extraordinary personal dedication, Griffin is able to conclude that, "The 9/11 truth movement's expose of the cover-up of the truth about what happened on 9/11 is now complete -- in the sense that this expose has shown, to those who have paid attention, virtually every dimension of the official account of 9/11 to be false beyond a reasonable doubt."

THE NEW PEARL HARBOR REVISITED by David Ray Griffin, in tandem with its famous predecessor, is the most effective presentation of this now-total expose. It's time now to put the perpetrators away in perpetuity.

5 out of 5 stars Filling in for a Somnolent Press Corps, Pressing the Case for 9/11 Truth   September 10, 2008
37 out of 47 found this review helpful

Dr. David Ray Griffin revises and extends his groundbreaking first 9/11 book, The
New Pearl Harbor, in a second volume. It follows closely on the heels of his 9/11
Contradictions - An Open Letter to Congress and the Press, also published this year.
In that book, he presented 25 direct contradictions - instances in the official account
where there are unexplained major conflicts between the evidence and what the U. S.
Government - in the form of the Commission - would have us believe.
With this work, Dr. Griffin cements his place as the pre-eminent spokesperson for
the growing number of people who demand answers to an expanding list of questions
about 9/11 - answers that can only come from a thorough and truly impartial
investigation of the largest unsolved crime in our history.
The latest in an impressive line of 9/11 works, this book updates, corrects, and
extends the account in The New Pearl Harbor, following the structure of that book,
making a number of corrections to the record, but adding a great deal of detail and new
information that has been uncovered since its publication in 2004. Even those members
of the 9/11 Truth Movement who have immersed themselves thoroughly in the subject
will find new information here, presented in the precise, and very readable style Dr.
Griffin has brought to each of his books on the subject. Readers who are new to the
subject would do well to start with the first volume, since it still provides one of the best
presentations of the basic facts available. Readers experienced with 9/11 analysis and
research in all its forms, likely will not be astonished by revelations in this work - our
capacity to be surprised has been somewhat dulled by the daily parade of insults to
intelligence that pass for governance in the era of Bush, but they will be gratified by the
well-researched detail and rational arguments that are hallmarks of Dr. Griffin's work.
In "Revisited", to pick an example, the section dealing with the information brought
out by the London Sunday Times on Sibel Edmonds, who defied a gag order to expose
corruption, espionage, high-level protection of foreign agents, and proliferation of
nuclear technology - all studiously ignored by the domestic media - is a grim illustration
of the debased state to which our "free press" has devolved. The quiet deconstruction of
former Solicitor General Ted Olson's report, in which he related details about the alleged
hijacking of Flight 77 based on phone calls that the FBI now claims did not occur,
should have caused headlines in the Washington Post, but at least the record is
corrected here.
As in his previous book - 9/11 Contradictions and its predecessors - he presents
evidence that exposes the inadequacies and sometimes the mendacity of the official
explanation, as represented by the 9/11 Commission Report and the thinning ranks of
its defenders. In doing so, his primary focus is on those incompatibilities between the
official account and the public record, or instances where the public record has been
manipulated or distorted to bolster a misleading view of events.
The already long list of inconsistencies, impossibilities, unexplained conflicts, circular
arguments, and downright contradictions in the Commission's official conspiracy theory
is further burdened by another heaping helping with this volume. Were the media the
least bit interested in the pursuit of the true story of 9/11, the official story and the
actions enabled by the passive acceptance of it by a fearful public and a cowed
Congress would most likely have already collapsed.
The Truth movement, in which Dr. Griffin has played a leading, perhaps dominant
role, has brought forward a very large body of evidence buried or omitted by the
commission ostensibly assembled to investigate the event. The efforts of the media
establishment to confine knowledge and public discourse about this evidence to a
counter-culture ghetto have been remarkably effective. When the subject does surface
in the mainstream, it is subjected to ridicule and dismissal with the inevitable ready-
made pejorative "conspiracy theory", which is invariably applied to non-approved
versions of events, discouraging the average citizen from taking it seriously. In this
book, and several others, it is made clear that the government version is, itself, no less
a conspiracy theory, and a far-fetched one at that. Dr. Griffin, in his books and with an
energetic lecture schedule, is doing his part and more to break out of this ghetto. His
calm and rational examination of the matter does him and the movement great credit.
The secrecy with which the current administration conducts itself, and its
documented efforts to propagate self-serving propaganda, do nothing to inspire
confidence that they have dealt, or will ever deal, with the issues of 9/11 with any more
integrity than they showed in the buildup to the invasion of Iraq. On the contrary, the
way the administration has dealt with 9/11 appears more and more an inseparable part
of a strategy to establish the "War on Terror" as a brand name for a long-term imperial
foreign policy. As it stands, the most charitable possible reading of administration
actions and the subsequent Commission Report is as a criminal coverup that makes
Watergate look like a tea party.
With the cooperation of a supine press and a complicit Congress, and despite what
appears to be breathtaking incompetence emanating from the top, the machinery of
empire grinds forward, appearing to have Iran in its sights. This book throws more sand
in the gears of that machinery. A great many in the Truth movement believe that the key
to stopping the endless chain of war, infringements on our rights, and human rights
abuses, all committed in our name and allegedly to keep us "safer", is exposure of the
truth about 9/11 and holding those who are truly responsible to account. Absent a
revival of investigative journalism - a dim prospect at best, in view of the media
ownership concentration - books like this one, arming the informed citizen with solid
information and providing a basis for demanding direct action, appear to be our best
hope.

5 out of 5 stars Great Writers Unify Human Understanding through Clarity   September 11, 2008
35 out of 44 found this review helpful

"There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting." -- Buddha

At some point the body politic of the Western world will realize that both oil and war over oil are not only unnecessary, but are absolutely detrimental to our continued survival as a species.

This realization will grow in direct proportion to the number of people who come to understand the truth which underlies the current occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq.

This truth, in turn, will only be accepted through a definitive, irrefutable analysis of the evidence underlying the events of September 11, 2001, which triggered the war on terror and the resulting invasions of the oil-rich Middle East.

The definitive analysis is now at hand. Incorporating seven years of carefully assembled information, Dr. David Ray Griffin's "The New Pearl Harbor Revisited" (NPHR) provides the first encyclopedic guide to the evidence surrounding the September 11th attacks.

Its format is a chapter-by-chapter updating of his 2004 "The New Pearl Harbor" (NPH), generally regarded as the most thorough and objective introduction to 9/11. The new book, however, blends the major developments reported in Griffin's five intervening books with recent technical objections to the official story contributed by a host of new researchers, including architects, engineers, pilots, and military officials.

NPHR already bears the attributes of a classic work:

1. Attention to Detail: The extraordinary image of Muslim-hijacked airliners hurtling into iconic US targets has been indelibly imprinted upon the public mind---yet it breaks down when confronted by this vast array of carefully researched and scrutinized details. Griffin has amassed hundreds of eyewitness statements and official reports which directly challenge our interpretation of the attacks, and the collective illusion they have spawned.

Griffin charts a course through the miraculously appearing hijacker passports and red bandanas; the spliced undated airport security videos; the hopelessly inept Muslim pilots performing ace flying maneuvers; the advance warnings of air attacks using hijacked planes; the molten steel running under the towers for weeks after the attacks; the inexplicable behaviors of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld on the morning of 9/11; the failure of FAA and NORAD to intercept the flights; the failure of all eight pilots to squawk the hijack code; and the massive explosions in the lobbies and sub-basements of the towers before their collapses---to name but a few.

It all points to internal complicity, manufactured evidence, and a planned cover-up of something far more ominous than a group of devout young Muslim fanatics, who according to press reports, frequented bars and prostitutes.

For those who believe that such conspiracies cannot be pulled off without detection, Griffin provides ample evidence of false flag operations which have occurred throughout history.

2. Documentation: It is not generally understood that what is documented and known about 9/11 has grown enormously over the past four years. As a librarian I am truly staggered by the amount of new information which has come to light through such sources as the oral histories of the Fire Department of New York; the prosecution files from the Moussaoui trial; the emergence of early video footage mounted from home collections on Youtube and Google Video; the release of government files and reports through FOIA requests; the archiving of early newspaper interviews on dozens of websites displaying out-of-print press articles; the various and conflicting flight manifests which have surfaced from the four flights; the seismic reports which reflect the time and intensity of the crashes; the press revelations showing torture was used by the CIA to extract evidence from al Qaeda operatives; and new historical accounts such as New York Times reporter Philip Shenon's 2008 "The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Investigation."

Meanwhile, the government and media have consistently sought to dispel this body of emerging "conspiracy" evidence. Griffin devotes two full chapters to White House interference and manipulation of the 9/11 Commission, and the resulting lies and deficiencies in its 2004 Report. Widespread criticism of the Report (most prominent of which was Griffin's book "The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions") led to tweaking of the official account through inconclusive federal documents from NIST, semi-official articles in the popular press (Popular Mechanics and Vanity Fair), and TV dramatizations.

With unfailing vigilance, Professor Griffin, in both NPHR and his earlier books, has methodically kept pace with the subtly shifting sands of the official story, always maintaining the upper hand through his unique blend of knowledge, logic, and accountability.

3. Comprehensiveness: When NPH was written in 2003-04, the 9/11 Commission Report had not yet been published, and there was only a handful of serious researchers looking into 9/11. Now, hundreds of architects, engineers, pilots, retired FBI, CIA, military and government officials are providing expert testimony regarding unexplained phenomena such as the pulverized concrete dust from the "gravitational" building collapses, the E-4B mystery plane flying above the White House while the Pentagon was hit, Project Able Danger, the performance of cell phones at high altitude, and a host of other technical issues which challenge the official account.

Public knowledge of this expert online information was demonstrated in 2006, when two authoritative opinion polls revealed that about 40% of the American people doubt the official story about 9/11. In the minds of nearly half the US population, therefore, 9/11 and the war on terror (which prompted the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and the deaths of 1.2 million Iraqis and even more Afghanis) are fundamentally suspect events.

That the nation and the world are living in superficial denial of this extraordinary common knowledge is intolerable to Griffin, who has spent five years writing seven books to bring this truth into open view for all to see.

4. Relevance: Griffin has said elsewhere that our failure to address the truly calamitous problem of climate change has been due to a significant degree to our preoccupation with the so-called war on terror, which, in a closed loop, is being waged to increase access to oil.

It is thus essential that we all understand at once, at a collective level, that the quest for Middle East oil has driven a rogue element within the United States power structure to the false flag attacks of 9/11.

And this seminal book offers proof beyond doubt. It is as clear as a mountain stream.

Such clarity is enormously powerful because it unifies human understanding as a basis for action. This is the expose that can tip the scales of public demand towards the truth and accountability the world so desperately needs.

1 out of 5 stars The Great Grifter Griffin Pawns More Garbage on the Gullible   October 12, 2008
23 out of 57 found this review helpful

David Ray Griffin publishes what I think is his 7th book on the subject of 9/11 conspiracies, making him the most prolific writer, and quite possibly the publishing world's biggest profiteer off of this tragedy. Despite this volume of work though Mr. Griffin has yet failed to form even the vaguest narrative of what he thinks actually happened on this tragic day, and in fact has vociferously spoken out against anyone forming a theory, on the grounds (and correctly so) that if the conspiracy theorists actually form a theory, they will open themselves up to criticism for the weakness of their argument. There is also the fact that if he tried to put together all of his "evidence", full of contradictions, speculations and outright absurdities, it would form a sum total plot which would be laughed off as too fanciful for a comic book. Despite this though Griffin does bizarrely forward some "sub-theories" such as the voice morphing technology straight out of the SciFi movie Terminator 2, which he tries to pass off with a straight face as common everyday technology. This has opened him up for attacks even from the members of his own movement, people who hardly refrain from baseless speculation in general.

In any case, with his "Just Asking Questions" methodology, Griffin's books and even chapters within his books have the curious property of existing entirely independent of each other, requiring no standard for evidence or coherence, instead being an incredible amalgamation fo speculation, quote mining and omission of inconvenient facts. Griffin is never called upon to defend his work, or stand up for its intellectual and academic rigor, something I found out when I sent an e-mail off to the good retired theologian asking him about the claims in the original New Pearl Harbor regarding "multiple eyewitnesses to missiles hitting the Pentagon", a claim Griffin makes even though he cites no examples in the book. Griffin replied as such, when asked to defend his assertions:

"I said lots of things in NPH that I would not say today and that I did not repeat in NPHR, where I specifically corrected at least some of the errors I had made in that earlier book, written 5 years ago."

OK, so would he say this today? That was a somewhat ambiguous answers, so I asked him again, does he stand by the specific passage he wrote, which seemed a simple enough question, what author cannot decide whether he stands by his own works or not?

The answer I received surprised me.

"I am stunned that you do not understand the difference between my quoting what I wrote in 2003, in response to your question of what I was thinking then, and citing it today. I have not cited it for many years. And it sounds like you have not yet read NPHR. If you want to know what I do and do not say today, you'll need to read it."

Apparently Griffin decided this was not a simple question, as he refused to answer it and suggested I buy yet another book from him. However, after reading the chapter on the Pentagon in his new book, I discovered that he is lying yet again. He does not explicitly bring up the section I asked him about, nor does he explicitly reject the bizarre missile theory, only adding that it is controversial. Someone reading both books in sequence would have no idea that there are major parts of the first book which are false, and that he no longer defends.

Well, I suppose if in 6 months I were to ask Dr. Griffin to defend a passage in this book, he would dodge the question and simply tell me to purchase his 8th book, coming soon to a bookstore near you.

5 out of 5 stars Griffin's Collection Of Govt. Records Damages Official Story   October 14, 2008

What undermines the official story most are Griffin's collection of records obtained from various government agencies. Most of all, the "black box" file for American Airlines flight 77 was completed over 4 hours before this "black box" was even found. This suggests tampering or falsification that could only be performed by the federal agencies involved.

Griffin's reference to a U.S. industry patent that describes the remote control capability of the 9/11 planes through the use of auto-pilot and GPS navigation systems, establishes the technological capability for the 9/11 aircraft attacks being carried out by means other than control of the 9/11 aircraft by unqualified and unmotivated hijacker pilots. There is so little evidence that terrorist hijackers were ever behind the controls of the 9/11 planes at all.

Griffin also demonstrates that the 9/11 aircraft "black boxes" are virtually the only ones during the past two decades for which inventory control serial numbers were not published. The authenticity of evidence most vital to the believability of the official 9/11 story seems very much in doubt in light of Griffin's latest findings.
