Entertaining read + the Baali make excellent enemies November 10, 1999 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book was so interesting, that I had to finish it in a single take. All Vampire material should be like this (the excess is highly overrated, I don't what the fuss is all about). If some people find this sick or disturbing, they should quit playing games about characters who have to kill and drink blood just to survive :-). I'm a VtDA ST, and this book has great value for my chronicle. Just reading it opened a well of ideas and story plot in my mind. I have used no Baali until now, I thought they represented all the boring and cliche aspects of evil. Clanbook Baali changed all that, there are so many different and subtle ways they could creep into a chronicle... (I'll stop here as not to spoil the fun) Closing statement: A must for ST's, a good read for all VtDA fans, and a new bloodline to play for mature and experienced roleplayers only.
Great fun for the whole family! June 12, 1999 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This has to be one of the best sorce books for Vampire: Dark Ages that I have come across yet. I would recomend it to anyone and everyone! Though the Baali are not supposed to be that suitable for players, I have mannaged to run chronicles with them and play one myself. It would require some level of maturity, though, which is something lacking in more than a few players I know. It is indeed a clan of the purest evil, and I egerly await the day the Baali crush their weakling enemys under their mighty fists! All should fear this clan of rapers and sadists, for they are among you already... Know that the others who say this book is nothing more than "A $12 Copy of Sick Pornography" are weaklings and fools who would like everything to be all sparkely and clean. The World Of Darkness is not sparkely and clean, it is dirty and twisted. Doubly so the Long Night, and indeed, the Evil in Vampire is incarnate in the Baali. This book also makes good bed-time stories for your children and younger siblings! I read this to my brother every night! You should too!
not just mindless evil May 29, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
i know that a lot of people who read this book was offended by it. it certainly isn't for everyone. the baali doesnt have to exist in each and every soryteller's game setting but, if it does, then this book is a great help. it gives in-depth information about the baali in an intelligent, three dimensional manner. not an "evil for the sake of evil" but gives real reasons why the baali do what they do and what they are. my only problem is that the book does not give enough daimoinon powers but it is rich in historical content and the philosophies of the baali. for me, i don't regret purchasing this book.
Great supplement for V: Dark Ages...MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY June 9, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Having read the other reviews, I must agree that Clanbook: Ba'ali is quite graphic and it obviously offends some people. They shouldn't use it! Personally I feel that a Storyteller can use the book to really flesh out his Dark Ages story. I must agree with another "reviewer"...I can't see a player having a Ba'ali character, but as a plot elements, story hook, etc.--YES! I was actually somewhat horrified by the content--GUESS WHAT!--it served it's purpose!!!!! Is this item shrink wrapped with parental advisory, etc? I can't remember...it should be.
Umm.. eww... December 21, 1999 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
The Baali are just plain sick and wrong. Great for antagonists, but I don't think I'd play one.
