Product Description America's worst nightmare has come true. Having neglected the threat of anti-establishment militias, the U.S. government is in danger of losing control. Middle America has violently risen up, coming to a standstill at Manhattan or, as the world now knows it, the DMZ. Matty Roth, a naive, aspiring photojournalist lands a dream gig following a veteran war journalist into the heart of the DMZ. Things soon go horribly wrong, and Matty finds himself lost and alone in a world he's only seen on television. In this volume, Roth reluctantly lands an interview for Liberty News with an enlisted U.S. solider who's found guilty of a massacre within the DMZ. What follows is a look at how the DMZ came to be, from the perspective of a kid who came from the Midwest and walked right into a nightmare.

Best DMZ TPB Yet! March 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book consists of different takes of a bloody event taken place in DMZ. If you haven't read any DMZ before, you can still jump in and enjoy this volume. Different artists that worked on this volume are also amazing to clearly show different POVs.
Check it out!
Excellent comic series, excellent installment April 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't really say that this book is getting better and better, because Volume 2 (Body of a Journalist) was probably better... but man, this is good stuff! It's a fast read, extremely relevant, fairly stand-alone, and one of the few books I'm recommending whole-heartedly lately.
DMZ May 3, 2008 This has fasr become one of my favorite comic series. It's right up there with Y The Last Man and Fables. This volume in particular brings the realities of war to a harsh and bitter light. It will make you question where you stand on war and politics and justice.
Another great volume May 5, 2008 The continuing story of Matty Roth and others in in the DMZ in another great volume covering some the earlier events in the DMZ.
2nd best, but the gap is huge August 26, 2008 The main chunk of this volume is alright. Is centers more on specific people's recollection on one bloody incident, which reflects Vol. 1's main appeal. Unfortunately, it all ends with a Deus Ex Machina of the military type, out of our protagonist's hands. This plot device might be attractive to some, but for those that want an ending that doesn't seem forced or cheap, this is not for you.
the real gem is the final issue in the volume; a solitary tale that stand up higher and more solid than the rest of the issue. It works really well with the addition of a new artist to breath life into these fastly-staleing charaters and story.
Borrow from a friend; do not buy.
