5 out of 5 stars This is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!111   May 10, 2005

This was one of the best books I have ever read. Usually greek mythology is boring or make no sense or is gruesome, but this was awesome. It's a collection of different stories about gods, heroes, and stories concerning the gods. I think anyone who is thinking about this book should defently read it.

4 out of 5 stars An easy-to-read approach to the Greeks   October 26, 2005

While this is not as sophisticated as Edith Hamilton's "Mythology" or as academic as other texts, this one adapts the Greek tales in a very reader-friendly way. One can easily get a sense of the drama, intensity and personalities of these ancient heroes and anti-heroes.

Though it is not as jam-packed as others, the vocabulary is accessible and the long list of vocabulary in the back shows the clear link between the Greeks and modern civilization.

5 out of 5 stars Great resource. Great for story telling. Great gift.   June 3, 2005
A handy resource for upper elementary and middle grades. Simple entries, only about 2-3 pages long. Includes glossary of terms derived from Greek myths, from aphrodisiac to volcano.

4 out of 5 stars A fun book to read   March 13, 2006
This book was fun to read. There are so many great stories about how the gods came to be and why people believe in many different things. They are interesting things to know, especially for school projects on greek mythology. This book could be read by just about anyone, because i think its an enjoyable book. By reading this book, you could learn about Zeus, Hera, Athene, Poseidon, Hades, and much much more. Since nobody knows if the greek stories are real, after reading this book you can decide for yourself. In this book there are good gods and bad gods. For example, a good god would be Zeus and a bad god would be Hades. Zeus was king of all the gods and everyone looked up to Zeus. Hades was god of the underworld, and nobody liked the underworld, so this made Hades a very angry god. Ancient greece was a world of spells and curses, magic and mystery, forces that create and destroy at will. My personal favorite hero is Perseus. He was a fearless mortal warrior, who took on an impossible challenge: slaying the monstrous Medusa, whose glance turns men to stone.
