Consider this the "essential" Elektra October 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
When Frank Miller took over as the writer/artist on Daredevil, he revolutionized the character (and would continue to do so when he would return with the "Born Again" storyline and the "Man Without Fear" mini-series, both can be found in the Daredevil by Frank Miller Companion Omnibus), as well as doing something else. He created one of, if not the, most important supporting characters Daredevil would ever have in his lost love Elektra, who would go on to meet a tragic demise at the hands of the insane assassin Bullseye. However, a little thing like death wouldn't be enough to keep Elektra in the ground forever, as you can see in the Elektra by Frank Miller & Bill Sienkiewicz Omnibus, which collects the duo's "Elektra: Assassin" mini-series, Miller's "Elektra Lives Again" graphic novel, an issue of "What If?", and a rare tale by Miller from "Bizarre Adventures". The "Elektra: Assassin" mini is just something so weird you'll have to read it to believe it, with the amazing art of Sienkiewicz being the main highlight. The "What If?" and "Bizarre Adventures" issues are interesting, but the real gem here is "Elektra Lives Again". Written and drawn by Miller, the tale focuses on the still grieving Matt "Daredevil" Murdock, trying to put to rest the memory of his lost love, which is made all the harder based on the fact that Elektra just won't stay dead. There are obvious pre-cursors to Miller's Sin City (tell me that the injured and bandaged Matt doesn't look just like Marv), but that doesn't detract from how poignant and riveting the story itself is. The only real downside of this Elektra Omnibus is that Marvel's cover price is way too much in my opinion for what is featured here, but if you can find it at a discounted price, it's definitely worth picking up, especially if you're a Miller fan. All in all, the Elektra Omnibus is a more than worthwhile trip, and is worth checking out for "Elektra Lives Again" alone.
