1 out of 5 stars Hey, kids! Did you like Season 1? *sucker punch*   June 28, 2008

Heroes: Season One was a phenomenon. Someone was making a show about superheroes, and they were doing it *smart*. We cared about the heroes. We shivered at the villains. We weren't sure where the plot was going, but we were along for the ride.

And then Season Two was inflicted upon us. "The writer's strike was going on... It wasn't *that* bad..."

Yes, yes it was. Bad on its own merits, but worse because it took the cockpit of one of the best shows on television and dumped fuel at 50,000 feet.

If all you come to "Heroes" for is some action and excitement and special effects, perhaps you found the season enjoyable, and I don't fault you for that. But if you're prone to ask yourself silly questions like "Why should two people who have been friends in the past and have the ability to freeze time (and thus literally all the time in the world to discuss and explain things) need to come to blows" or "How the devil would someone with the ability to regenerate know that doing 'x' would result in his permanent demise" or even "Why is this person doing these stupid and out-of-character things other than someone's desperate need for the plot to move in a particular direction"... This show will leave you, as a Season 1 veteran, *howling* in pain.

Watch one of our female leads devolve as a character and date a sociopath! Marvel as the writers decide killing people off is cleaner than resolving their issues! Thrill to the slow-moving travels of a blubbering, co-dependent cipher! Gawk at writing so shallow that you can practically read the outline through the script! Boggle at the notion that anyone has actually thought this through!

Or, don't.
No, really. Just don't. Spare yourself.

4 out of 5 stars Wait 'til it goes down in price!   June 25, 2008

HEROES is a terrific show with very interesting characters and intriguing storylines. It is well-written and well-acted. I even enjoyed Season Two, even though it wasn't as exciting as Season One (hence the 4-star rating instead of 5). I highly recommend it to everyone.

However, for the studio to offer Season Two to us fans at the regular TV season price is ridiculous. Don't pay it! Wait until they lower the price. Remember: we were only given HALF A SEASON last year due to the writers strike. They never came back like some other shows. Why pay the same price for half the episodes? WAIT!

1 out of 5 stars No Mac Viewing Capability   November 4, 2007

It would seem that this can not be watched on an Apple product (ITunes/Ipod/ITouch) which is disappointing to say the least.

I am a loyal Amazon user (at least two purchases a month) but this decision to provide episodes (but not for mac users) makes it easier to switch to other suppliers of product.

Amazon - you are better than this. Get this resolved for Mac users.

4 out of 5 stars Not the total waste that some fans call it   June 30, 2008

Heroes season 2 I think was pretty good considering that they cut it down due to that uselesss writer's strike. I mean the strike was useless, not the writers themselves. It left us with nothing but crappy reality shows through-out most of the year. Heroes season 2 told as good of a story as it could've due to the short time. It does start out a bit better than it ends though. Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) still steals the show. Him in the past where he meets his childhood hero Takezo Kensei (an excellent David Anders of Alias) led to some of the more engaging stuff of the season. Parkman (Greg Grunberg) finding out that his father is infact Molly's nightmareman was a little disappointing I admit. However the nightmare scenes were done well enough that I didn't care after awhile. I just wish that their was more of him since he was one of the fresher things about this season. He also was a little creepy.

Speaking of creepy, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) is back but powerless. He shows that he's dangerous even without his powers though. He meets a woman with a dangerous power that kills everyone around her when her eyes turn black and bleed. She's a good person but her powers kill people and only her brother's power can control her power if that makes sense. Sylar gets in her head and makes her think that he's a good person that wants to help her. When he's really just fascinated by her power and wants it for himself. Well when he gets his back that is and he thinks Mohinder (Sendhil Ramamurthy) can help him get them back.

While Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) mysteriously lost his memory and doesn't remember his brother Nathan or even having powers. He falls for a women who's brother says he can help him remmember. He wants him to use his powers for bad though before he'll help him. While Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) moves his daughter Claire (Hayden Panettiere) somewhere to protect her from the company. He tells her to stay low. That's easier said than done when a kid there sees that she has powers. It's ok with him though since he can...fly.

I was entertained by the season. It has many twists and turns. Does it all lead up to something great though in the end ? No, I can't really say that. Instead of NY being threatened by a bomb it's now threatened by a virus. While instead of Hiro seeing the future and seeing that NY is doomed, Peter does instead. So they could've been more original, it was too familiar to what we already seen in season 1. While Ali Larter has shown she can act as Nikki, she's wasted in this season with little to do.It also bugged me that some new heroes have powers that we have already seen. Such as, one can fly "like Nathan", while another can heal "like Claire". However those were probably my only problems with the season. Other than that they did what they could due to the strike and it could have been worse.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointing   June 23, 2008

HEROES Season 2 came with high expectations. Besides delivering a dynamite first season, the team behind the show had run a terrific multi-platform entertainment set up, with text messaging, online content (including mini-comics), and all sorts of ways to get into the world of the show. I was hooked-- and my wife and I were home Mondays to catch every episode.
Then Season 2 came out--expectations were high--and I had one night after another of WTF???
I kept having to make excuses to my wife for why the show really WASN'T sucking, even if it seemed to be, because they would make it better.
And they didn't. Week after week.
It seemed as if the creative team had been replaced by folks who had never *watched* HEROES, much less worked on it.
Virtually nothing was enjoyable or entertaining, least of all the resolutions to this abbreviated season's confusing and meandering storylines.
Unless the show gets its act together in the first few episodes of Season 3, HEROES won't be drawing my interest this year.
As for this DVD set, I'll think about buying it when the cost comes down to its value to me... say around $10. Maybe.
