Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The book contains 250 tattoo designs, the best of OConnell's 3 sets of tattoo flash titled Stewed, Screwed and Tattooed (2001), Done While Drunk (2002), and From the Bottom of the Barrel (2006). Each limited edition set sold for $100, and is now out of print, and this volume collects all the images in one easy-to-flip-through book. Mitch O'Connell's art is reminiscent of the Old School tattoo art, from masters such as Sailor Jerry Collins and Don Ed Hardy, but uses more contemporary themes with a distinctive style.

5 out of 5 stars What's not to love?   April 1, 2007

I love everything about this book! It's called a "paperback" but it's not your run-of-the-mill paperback.

Sure, it has a soft cover, but it has a really solid feel to it. If fact, the tactile sensation of this book is much akin to that of a soft bound Bible. So why not think of this book as a Tattoo Bible? But rather than being cluttered with endless Words, this Good Book offers 265 awesome illustrations!

Recommended to anyone interested in tattoo art, pop art, Kitsch, or just good old fashioned well crafted drawings.

The best part is it's under 15 clams! Such a deal.

5 out of 5 stars Great Graphics! (and I don't even like tattoos)   April 16, 2007

Mitch O'Connell remarkably channels American culture into cutting edge graphics whether it is comics, mainstream magazine illustration. lowbrow high brow gallery pieces or Tattoos! Missing out on his earlier tattoo flash booklets but loving his prior two LowBrow Highbrow fine art books, I've been hoping he would do another book.

Frankly I find Tattoos sort of icky (needles and all that) but Mitch O'Connell's graphics are great! Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for some fun startling images.

3 out of 5 stars Its Okay   July 14, 2008

This book doesn't have any pictures of actual work. Each image looks like a professional cartoon but there are many variations of the same work. For instance he might have 4 pictures of the same woman, with the same face, but wearing different clothes. Almost every image has some cute caption to go along with the picture but I didn't think there was more than a handful someone would want on their body.

5 out of 5 stars Hot Dog!   April 16, 2007

There's no holding this man back...from sweaty martini bar nightmares to Pop Culture freak outs & Poodle-icious wet dreams, Mitch is the master of the iconography of the post-war years & the puke puddle that followed. This book of tattoo flash is not only brilliant by itself, but a beautiful compendium of M.o'C's illustrative insanity. MA-NON-GA-HE-LA!
