Product Description How we live is based upon what we believe. Susan Hunt wants to help parents systematically teach their kids the basic truths of faith so that they live for the Lord. Each lesson begins with simple questions and answers about a biblical principle and is followed by a story of two youngsters, Caleb and Cassie, that portrays how that truth can be applied.

One of my children's favorites! November 2, 1999 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
These authors have done a great job of taking the truths from the Children's catechism and relating them in understandable stories that my children really relate to. It focuses on the God revealed in the Bible and helps children to understand who He is and how He relates to them personally. I highly recommend this book.
Perfect Choice for Parents with Small Children! November 4, 2005 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have a 6 year old son. My wife and I desired to teach him "Big Truths" but in a way that was interesting and fun. I began searching for books that would help us to do this. Finally, I found this book, "Big Truths for Little Kids". Perusing it at the store, I felt like it would fit the bill. But once I got it home and began reading it to my son, I knew it was the right choice! He loves hearing the stories in this book. The book uses short stories to teach kids biblical truths in a practical and insightful way for children. All of the stories have the same characters - Caleb, Cassie, Angus, Daniel, etc. After the first few stories, your child will know all the characters and relate to them. This makes the stories even better! My son looks forward to reading these stories with great anticipation. He thinks it's just fun, but all the while he is learning great spiritual truths that will help him grow into a man of honor and integrity. I cannot thank the authors enough for the wonderful service they have done by writing this book for children. Thank you!!!
Could be dangerous.... March 25, 2008 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
I'm a little wary of this book. In the first 5 stories or so it seems that the emphasis was on the sin of non believers and new believers. Every time some one sinned it was this new Christian boy Daniel. Then the other children that were believers would point out the sin in the boy or go and get there father to help explain the areas of sin in the little boy Daniel. This type of thinking will lead you away from the cross and right into judgmental legalism. I think the book would have served its purpose to a greater degree if it would have pointed the hearts of Caleb and Cassie to the cross, to examine there own hearts and to be brought to repentance through Christ's work on the cross. The last thing I want is my children to be looking for sins in others without looking to there own hearts first. That being said it still had some great things as well. Teaching our children to pray through scripture and going through the catechisms is a wonderful thing.
Wonderful! January 14, 2001 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Catechisms continue to be wonderful teaching tools, even if they have fallen out of use lately. Susan Hunt has given us a real treasure. This book really makes some solid teaching fun and engaging for the kids. I love this book.
Great for ages 5 to 11 August 10, 2005 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
A Presbyterian friend recommended Susan Hunt's books to me, a Baptist. Catechism is not in our vocabulary but I used this book very successfully for devotions with my children. They relate to the characters and the situations that occur in their lives. I highly recommend it.
