Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

Smiles will shine when little ones ages 1 to 5 imagine the games played by the animals of Noah’s Ark. Whimsical characters and clever rhymes created by illustrator Andy McGuire entertain themselves and readers with the turn of each colorful page. Watercolor zebras, rabbits, turtles, bears, and even a sloth come out to play.

Hide and seek can be a treat,
Chameleons can be hard to beat.

A game of ping pong never fails,
Beavers choose to use their tails.

This fun adventure rescues boys and girls from the boredom blues with a boat full of reasons to celebrate laughter and play.

5 out of 5 stars An Innovative Twist On A Well-Known Story   June 15, 2008
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

There are dozens of storybooks about Noah and the ark yet with RAINY DAY GAMES, Andy McGuire takes a creative twist on this familiar story. After reminding the reader that 40 days of continual rain is a lot of rain, he wonders, "What would the animals do to pass the time?"

You and your child will love reading this story because each time will reveal something new. During the first reading, you may notice how the mice are playing a maze game with the stripes on the zebra. Or on another reading you will notice how the badger makes the snake into a ring for ring-tosseros with the rhino. McGuire's vivid and realistic illustrations balance with the fun words to keep children (and parents) turning pages.

Get this book because it will make a great addition to every home for repeated reading.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful read-a-loud, laugh-out-loud for children...   June 23, 2008

Not only is this an adorable, hilarious read-a-loud that practically guarantees quality time (after time, after time) with a child, this book could also stimulate creative ideas for other fun things a child could do (or imagine they could do) when stuck in-doors.

The book could also lead to deeper, more meaningful discussions with a child.

I found myself surprisingly and delightfully emotional at the end of the book (no worries, no spoiler here) because at its conclusion, it spoke much more than the story line of a little boy's house-bound imagination on a rainy day. My emotional response came out of the fact that there is a promise contained in a visual element at the end. A promise that, despite the storms and less than sunny times of life... well, you'll have to see the book for yourself.

5 out of 5 stars So adorable!   June 4, 2008
We can't WAIT to receive this book in the mail! It's a family favorite already and we don't even have it in hand. But from this author, it's sure to be a classic. Move over, Dr. Seuss!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful cover!   June 4, 2008
I've already ordered 2 based on the cover alone! Then I read the book description and I think I should have ordered more!

5 out of 5 stars Genius!   June 4, 2008
What a wonderful work. In an age of mediocre children's picture books, it is a welcome surpise to find this fun, light hearted, and beautifullly illustrated book. Looking forward to the next installment.
