Product Description Mommy Has A Tattoo tells the story of a little boy named James, who is afraid of his tattooed neighbor until he discovers that his own mother has a tattoo as well. The book emphasizes the importance of familiarizing children with tattoos at a young age and eliminates the common notion of "scary" that has sometimes been linked to tattoos. Tattoos are a source of pride for lots of Mommies, and a source of endless curiosity for their kids. The charming characters, bright colors, and delightful illustrations in Mommy Has A Tattoo show kids that tattoos, in fact, aren't scary at all!

Unique parenting resource February 6, 2007 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
An excellent book that really helps explain a mom's tattoos to kids. Today, so many moms have tattoos that being "inked" is now virtually as mainstream as pierced ears or lipstick. Kudos to Phil Padwe for his vision in creating this unique parenting resource!
The best book EVER!!!!! October 3, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Thank you so much for writing this book, my husband reads it to our son every night and then he takes our sons hand and has him touch....mommys tattoo. He is only 4 months old but when you say mommy has a tattoo to him, he laughs and reaches for my neck and leg!!! Without this book, we would not know how to explain tattoos to him once he got older....now we don't have to. No little red riding hood for our son, his bedtime story is "Mommy has a tattoo" and it will be until he is too old for stories!!!!!

Over the past couple of years so many of my friends, tattooed friends, have gotten married and had babies. Not only is this book absolutely adorable, but it teaches children about tolerance of others. You can't help but love James and root for him to overcome his fear of the tattooed man! It's about time a book like this was written and I know EXACTLY what all MY friends are getting for Christmas!!
Teaching Tattoo Tolerance June 14, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Could the prettiest Mommy in the whole world have a tattoo hidden on her body? Young James is afraid of his heavily tattooed neighbor, so why would his Mommy be talking to the man? Is what his sister says true--that Mommy Has a Tattoo?
Author Phil Padwe (who sports some nice sleeves of his own in the back jacket picture) wrote this children's book as part of his mission of "Teaching Tattoo Tolerance." I hope the public libraries pick up on this one, and Padwe's lighthearted message spreads around the nation. Don't miss out on his follow up Tattoo Coloring Book #1, either. That title is great fun for children and adults alike.

I can't wait to buy this book for every baby shower I'm invited to. I love the idea of educating the next generation about what tattoos really mean, there is such a senseless stigma against them. As someone who plans on having multiple tattoos by the time I decide to have a kid- thank you Phil Padwe for writing this book!
