MAN I MUST SAY IT PAYS TO LISTEN TO THE RADIO SOMTIMES!! I HEARD ABOUT THIS MOVIE ON THE RADIO.. SO ME AS A BLACK WOMAN I FELT WE NEED TO GO AND SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER CAUSE IF WE DONT... NOBODY WILL!!!
HOWEVER IF YOU ARE A SENSITIVE PERSON, OR BETTER YET CLOSED MINDED THAN THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!!! THIS MOVIE ( I WONT GIVE TOO MUCH AWAY) BUT THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT A TABOO TOPIC THAT NOBODY (ESPECAILLY) IN THE BLACK COMUNITY LIKES TO TALK ABOUT...
BUT WHEN I SAW THIS MOVIE I WAS BLOWN AWAY!!! I DRUG MY MOM TO SEE THIS MOIVE AND SHE WAS SPEACHLESS!!!! SHE EVEN TOLD A MALE FRIEND OF HERS... AND HE CALLED HER RIGHT AFTER THE MOVIE WAS OVER AND HE EVEN LOVED IT! THEY TALKED A LONG TIME ABOUT IT... ITS A DEEP MOVIE!!! IT "COVERS" A LOT OF TOPICS LIKE I SAID NOBODY TALKS ABOUT....
FOR THOSE WHO LOVE MOVIES THAT ARE UNPREDICTABLE THAN THIS IS FOR YOU!!!
SUPPORT IT... ITS WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!
A Must See March 24, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I got a chance to see this movie over a month ago at the AMC 25 on 42nd street in Times Square here in New York City. All I will say is this movie was mind-blowing and EXTREMELY timely. This movie is a perfect starting point for a much needed dialogue regarding a brooding DL issue. If you want to know more then buy the DVD in May; I promise it's worth it. This movie is definitely well acted, suspenseful, intense, filled with recognizable and acclaimed actors and poignant. Bill Duke (the director) did a great job. There were some editing clumsiness that got on my nerves at times, but the story and the acting made up for it. Check it out!
EXCELLENT June 9, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I figured anything with Bill Duke's name on it had to be good and I was correct. Still, I didn't know what to expect when I rented 'Cover'. But now I do-- absolutely superb! Kudo's to Bill and the rest of the cast. You've made a high quality film that informs, enlightens and breaks your heart...really a great piece of work...I'm looking forward to more.
I'm glad I found this movie April 27, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I saw a little advertising in the paper about this movie. I saw Bill Duke directed it, and so I was willing to give it a chance. It was well worth the trip to the theater. I had no idea about the subject matter, and it's very provocative. It's very in your face once it all unravels, but I think it's well worth seeing and buying the DVD and passing it around to your female friends.
TOO BAD! May 16, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Its a shame that films like this do not create more attention. the subject matter is very timely, especially in the black community where the "DL" problem is at its worst. Great performances and a really interesting story line propel this film to the top!
