Product Description From Boomers to Bloggers offers critical information that will help both individuals and organizations achieve success across generations. Taking time to find common ground can only enhance relationships and company productivity. That common ground can often be found through focusing on the company’s vision and mission. She GETS it. March 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow! The author brings to light so many important issues in today's workforce. It's one of those books you'll have trouble putting down because it just makes so much sense. I found it very easy to read and enjoyed the stories. In some cases, ignorance is bliss -- in the case of generational diversity, there is much to learn and apply. This book will help you do EXACTLY that. I look forward to purchasing more books from this author and have been recommending it to others...daily.
Aha moments March 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Success is the synthesis of great attitude with better communication. This book will help you take both to the next level. As a "young professional," I felt like the author almost knew my exact situation as she illumined the missteps that both I and my bosses, those crazy "seasoned professionals," were taking in the workplace. I lost count of the number of times I said to myself, "Oh, so that's why..." as I was reading. A week ago, I was hardly conscious that generations existed, and couldn't understand why I was so misunderstood by my department heads--or why those same bosses were just as unintelligible to me. Now, I see intergenerational communications problems almost everywhere (and not just at work), and its all I can do not to shout, "Look, its OK...this is where this problem comes from, and this is how to make it better." Read this book.
Wow! Misti is right on target! May 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have found the biggest challenge in business to be the ability to communicate with the people around you, and there is no question that cross-generational communication presents the biggest challenge of all. Misti Burmeister has changed that with one of the most important publications of our time on the subject.
from Boomers to Bloggers should be required reading for baby boomers and the young professionals to whom they will pass the baton. Misti has done us all a service with specific advice on ways to communicate effectively, to break down artificial barriers and to celebrate relationships that would otherwise have been lost in the translation.
Thanks Misti! Awesome work!
Great book March 26, 2008 This book does a great job of discussing the points of view of both sides of the generations, both young and seasoned professionals. I find that it is not only useful for creating effective work relationships but also those personal relationships we all have with different generations such as parents, grandparents and children. I am pleased to recommend this book to anyone who has had to deal with challenges caused by misunderstandings of different generations.
Graduating from college? Read this one first. March 27, 2008 This book is a nice introduction to life in the working world. It's more than just making money for the weekends... working can be a lot of fun if you take it seriously and understand teamwork is needed to be successful. I am sending this to my nephew (in college) to give him a competitive edge since this is material not even discussed in college. It is written with two perspectives, for the young professional and for the seasoned pro. I feel college grads would be better prepared and more mature after reading this one book.
