A Good Read January 18, 2008 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
A very interesting and informative book, although, it didn't really help me as much as others because I had already purchased my Disney vacation. I was looking for tips and hints on how to make the trip better and a lot of the book is the planning of your trip (ie. where to stay, to fly or drive, properties on and off Disney property, etc.). It did help me though with it's detailed info on Disney attractions, restaurants and shopping. Still very worth the money as it's priced right.
An Absolute MUST Have for your first trip to WDW! November 30, 2007 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
We read about 9 books on WDW - several were very good but this one was absolutely the best.
1 - the information was accurate. This is MUCH more than I can say for the best selling WDW Guide for folks with kids. 2 - there were dozens of useful recommendations regarding fright factors for rides and attractions that helped us a great deal with two small children. 3 - the planning materials were very nice and its format made it useful inside the park as well as before we went. 4 - the website that the authors have is a treasure trove of information beyond the books. Its updated constantly which can REALLY save you money and time when going to WDW. 5 - Its convenient size, shape, and format make using it as your travel planner for your trips easy as possible. 6 - many of the Maps inside are better (more detailed, practical for trip planning, and usable) than the beautiful free ones Disney mailed us.
All I can say is that this is the best value and most informative of the books we own. We've updated to the 2008 version and keep learning new things about WDW with each installment of the PassPorter series!
Don't go to WDW without this book!! January 25, 2008 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
If you want to get your money's worth during your next "World" vacation, bring this book!!! We have used this book for 3 trips to WDW so far, and have found this tool to be invaluable. I use it to plan our days, meal reservations, hold reciepts, jot down memorable moments, and keep tabs on our budget. When we return, I use the info in the book to organize my scrapbook.
Very easy to read, great maps, nice format. A must for the WDW traveler!!
Two awesome Disney books! December 16, 2007 7 out of 34 found this review helpful
This year we bought two Disney guides, this one and The Complete Guide to Walt Disney World 2008. They were both awesome! The Passporter has all these little pockets to store stuff (very handy for a pack rat like me!) and the Complete guide has lots of great information to read. My favorite parts of the books was that this one was written by two girls, or at least a lot of it was! For every ride they say whether or not it was cool. Goodto know! The Complete Guide I loved cuz it gave me lots of things to look for, like Fun Finds and Hidden Mickeys!
Great planner / organizer and lightweight quick reference March 24, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I recently rush-ordered this book when having to plan a trip to Walt Disney World on very short notice.
Not only did this book make the planning a lot simpler and efficient, but it was also a great way for me to organize my trip once I was there, to get the most out of my time.
While I'd taken out the usual Fodor's and Frommer's guides from the library, I found them too packed with information, and it was hard to quickly find the specific information that I needed to know at any given moment.
That's where this product shined.
Light enough to easily carry in a backpack, constructed in a way that makes it easy to hold and quickly flip through, and easy to stuff additional papers inside (such as daily itineraries and notes) - the PassPorter guide was just the trick. It was a snap for me to quickly find what I needed when I needed it.
Stick a pen in the binding loops, and some sticky tabs on a few keys pages, and you're ready to go.
The kind of things that I found very useful were the quick listings of park attractions (about a paragraph long description for each attraction or ride), with simple icons and color coding, and little things like the quick reference pages, telling you basic things like how to easily get from each park / resort / dinner theater event to another in the Walt Disney World grounds. (In other words, the kind of things you want to know quickly on the spot)
Some parts were not so useful once you'd already planned your trip (for example, the whole section on accomodations was rather moot for me, since I'd already booked my hotel).
But overall - it's a nice companion to the more in-depth guides, like Fodor's and Frommer's, without the information overload.
This is the kind of book that you'll mark up as you go, checking off where you've been, and not feel bad about it.
