Amazon.com Review First popularized by Daniel Goleman in his book Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ, the concept of emotional intelligence is now widely accepted, not only within the psychological arena, but also, ever-increasingly, within the business world. In The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book, authors Bradberry and Greaves outline techniques anyone can use to achieve goals in an easier and more fulfilling way, improve relationships, enhance health, and become more accomplished in the work force. Starting with a discussion on what emotional intelligence (EQ, for short) is and how it impacts our lives, Bardberry and Greaves then provide readers with instructions for determining their own EQ via the books companion Web site (the passcode for doing so can be found on the inside of the books dust jacket). They also provide a variety of ways readers can increase their EQ and put it to use in their personal and professional lives. Based on research with more than 500,000 people, The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book is exactly that, a quick and easy-to-read resource that empowers readers to master their EQ and more effectively incorporate it into all aspects of their daily lives. Larry Trivieri Jr.

I wasn't familiar with the authors, but bought the book after reading the description and the amazing endorsements from the Dalai Lama and Stephen Covey. I was not disappointed! The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book explains and explores via great stories and profound research. It's fun to read and has an enormous variety of invaluable, fact-based information which helped me with relationships and my career.
Concise and brilliant July 11, 2005 111 out of 122 found this review helpful
A friend recommended this book to me after reading about it in the Washington Post. Then, I saw one of the authors interviewed on TV, so I figured I better give it a look and am so glad that I did! It's an amazingly insightful and well-researched look at our emotions that covers new research collected during the last few years that is quite compelling. Offers many insights into how our mind works and how emotions play a role in thinking, learning and maintaining your health. Good solutions also for managing the destructive thoughts that enter the mind. Worth triple the price !!
Managers & above: please read! September 9, 2005 92 out of 104 found this review helpful
If you don't know the difference between your I.Q. and your E.Q. and how much it matters in the workplace, then read this book--especially if you're a supervisor, manager, director or CEO. There's even an on-line test to see how you rate. Run--don't walk--and get this book. Better yet: order it right now on Amazon :-) (Your employees will thank you!)
A good find July 5, 2005 70 out of 77 found this review helpful
I first read about this book in a Newsweek article and it's intriguing. Quite frankly, I normally am bored by these kind of books but I couldn't put this one down. The authors tested more than 500,000 people and they turn the findings into practical strategies anyone can pick up and use. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to be the best they can be.
