5 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT REFERENCE BOOK   February 24, 2004

I have used this book throughout 2 years of medical school and it is one of the best dermatology references I have come across. It has also been a quick review for the the path seen with derm since the pictures are so clear and give a good representation of the path. An easy book to skim through before boards as well.

5 out of 5 stars Out Damned Spot!   May 7, 2002

Was it, perhaps, the abundant clear color photos? Was it, by chance, the in-depth and easy to understand text? Or could it have been the complete indexing of every skin disease known to mankind, from Acne to Zoster sine zoster, that compelled me to snatch this wonderful red book from the shelf and declare, "Hey, this is one super-cool book!"

If I were a dermatologist or a general practitioner, I'd want this atlas in my reference library. Ah...but alas, I'm but a simple lawyer trying to find out how to get rid of a case of... Dare I say more? Out damned spot! Out!

Here's how I see it. If I, as layperson, might think this atlas worthy of your attention...then it must be! Cammy Diaz

5 out of 5 stars A clinical pearl   November 13, 2000

I am a Certified Physician Assistant in family practice. I have used this book both as a student and as a professional and have found this to be an invaluable resource. The pictures are excellent, and more importantly, the discription and synopsis of each clinical situation is precise and reader friendly. I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Dermatology Reference!   February 15, 2001

As a practicing optometrist, I continually see lesions of all types on peoples faces, and have always wanted an affordable dermatology reference to help me in assessing the risk associated with these lesions. I must say this text is everything I wanted, and then some. The text provides excellent, detailed diagnostic/background information to accompany the wonderful full color pictures, and is organized according to the type of lesion and underlying etiology. At 1,040 pages, it appears to cover the most important and common skin conditions seen. I expect it to become an often used reference in my optometry practice. This text will definitely help me decide when to refer a patient for further evaluation. I honestly wonder how such a great reference can be produced at this price, as most of my other texts are much more expensive. If you are looking for this type of text, I don't think you can lose with this one. The text I have reviewed is the fourth edition, copyright 2001.
