Her Numbers System REALLY Works January 13, 2005 74 out of 82 found this review helpful
The system Glynis has put together is literally foolproof. It is beyond simple (and that was quite important to me being absolutely horrid in math.) This book, and the system Glynis brings you are astoundingly accurate. I compared many different numbers, and each one, with respect to each comparison was right on target every single time. I was never into numerology, and what astounds me is how simple and accurate, her book really is. Additionally, if you can arrange for her to give you a numerology reading, you will be blown away, because I was when she gave me mine with respect to an old relationship. Just `by the numbers' EVERYTHING she described was dead on target. Both Glynis and this book are for real, and you will be amazed at the accuracy. It can also save you a lot of grief by knowing about the wrong numbers right from the beginning of any endeavor. Both this book and Glynis will only help you in your life - that is for sure!

If it wasn't so over the top, maybe I'd appreciate it more February 22, 2005 70 out of 82 found this review helpful
I have studied gematria and numerology for over a decade. And I must admit, McCants does a good job at explaining in plain English exactly what numerology is and how to use it. But it PAINS me, I mean deep in my gut intenstines knotting pains me, to see such a powerful tool treated like a deck of tarot cards in the hands of an angst ridden teenager. McCants sells the book as if numerology is the ultimate problem solver. All you need to do is figure out your "path" number and you can do anything! Ummm, sorry, no. Numerology is simply a guide, not the super-fix-it McCants pretends it is. Sadly, the good information she does provide is lost in the quick-fix mentality presented through the book. Instead of offering readers a guide through which to further examine their inner selves, McCants encourages readers to use numerology as a problem-solver for external issues. If you are able to pull the facts from the hype, this book can serve as a good starting point for understanding the roll of numbers in our lives. If you don't want to deal with the the over the top hype, pick up a copy of Morris C Goodman's "Modern Numerology." Originally written in 1945, you can get the same information without the hard sell.
A Thorough Treatment of Personal Numerology April 3, 2006 26 out of 28 found this review helpful
"Each person's numerological chart is a blueprint of who they really are. The numbers in your chart describe the essence of you-how you behave in certain situations, what your strengths and weaknesses are, what hurdles you must overcome to achieve happiness, and how you can improve the quality of your life. Once you understand the basic principles of how to read your chart, the power of the numbers is in your hands." - From the book
Pythagoras once said, "All things can be expressed in numerical terms, because all things are ultimately reduced to numbers." There are several systems within numerology, but the Western tradition is that of Pythagoras, a man known as the "father of Numerology". The basic premise of Numerology is that everything in the universe has its own vibrational signature, including letters. When the vibrational combinations of letters join in a name, the name itself has its own vibration.
Numbers are everywhere-house numbers, phone numbers, credit card numbers, clocks, license plates, and so on. Because letters have a corresponding numerical vibration, names, streets, and even countries have a particular vibe to them. In her book Glynis Has Your Number, numerologist Glynis McCants breaks down a potentially complex subject into a lucid system for understanding yourself and others.
According to the author, there are six main components to an individual's Numerology chart:
Life Path - The most important number in personal Numerology, this is what you need to fulfill in order to be happy. This number is derived from the sum of the digits in a person's birth date.
Soul Number - This is what you feel inside, and is not necessarily what people see. This number is derived from the numeric value of all the vowels in the name we go by.
Personality Number - The face you show the world. This number is derived from the numeric value of all the consonants added together in the name we go by.
Power Name Number - The most important number in your name, this is the number that shows the strength of your name.
Birth Day Number - The way you appear to people. This is the number of the day on which you were born.
Attitude Number - The first impression people have when talking to you. This number is the sum of the digits in the day and month of your birth date,
In addition to describing the core components of numbers one through nine, Glynis Has Your Number also delves into Destiny Number (based on the name on your birth certificate) and Intensity Number (based on the number that comes up the most in your name).
Through personal anecdotes and Numerological snapshots of celebrities, McCants explains:
*Healing by the numbers *Natural Match, Compatible, Neutral, and Challenge Numbers *Relationship descriptions of how each Life Path Number gets along with each Life Path Number *Soul Mate Matches *World Numbers and the Role of the Century *Personal Years, Months, and Days (and the characteristics of each one) *Naming by the Numbers (including children, pets, and businesses) *Repeating Numbers *Numbers that "follow" us around (including 11:11) *Special Number Patterns (such as A/J/S and the 1-8-9 pattern)
I found all of this information fascinating, reading the entire 233-page book in one sitting and taking notes. For example, her description of the first vowel in a person's name and what it reflects was spot-on. Her explanation of the A/J/S pattern-when two or more letters of this series shows up in a name-was also eerily accurate. (My first name is Janet, so I know this pattern all too well...)
Glynis Has Your Number is especially valuable for individuals seeking to improve their relationships or find a compatible partner. I wasn't surprised to find that my husband and I were Natural Matches in Numerology since we have such a great relationship. We also share a Soul Number (8), which means that what fulfills us in our heart is the same for us both. My son's Life Path Number (8) is supposedly a Challenge (Toxic) Number for me as a 7 Life path, but since we share three numbers (all 8's!), we're considered a "Soul Mate" relationship. Likewise, my husband and son share three numbers (4, 8, 9), which means their relationship is ALSO a "Soul Mate" match. Needless to say, we have quite a harmonious and loving home!
McCants explains that Challenge Numbers, even within our chart, can be remedied with the use of Numerology. For example, although I have two 7's in my chart, I also have THREE 8's-a number that is supposedly "toxic" to my 7 Life Path Number. However, I have learned (and am continuing to learn!) how to blend these vibrations in a harmonious manner.
While my numbers were accurate, the description of my husband's numbers was mostly inaccurate. His Life Path number, 1, was way off base on most counts, his Soul number was mostly accurate, but Personality, Attitude, Power Name and so on were NOT him. So while the jacket of the book says that McCants has counseled well over 9,000 people and "does not miss", it wouldn't appear that not EVERYONE can be pegged using this system.
The surprising anecdotes found in Glynis Has Your Number demonstrate the power of numbers. I was intrigued by the author's story of putting numbers inside her office door to offset the ones on the outside (and what happened when the 1 fell off!), as well as stories of individuals pasting 8 in their office or putting a paper with the number 8 on it in a wallet for financial abundance.
One issue I have with this book is the celebrity examples. Although the book was published in 2005, McCants speaks as if Christopher Reeve were alive, Brad Pitt was still married to "one of the most beloved actresses in Hollywood", Dick Clark continues to host America's Top 40 and "is thriving", and so on. These bits of information give Glynis Has Your Number a dated feel.
If you're interested in Numerology for self-understanding, relationship compatibility, or deciphering repeating numerical patterns, Glynis Has Your Number is an excellent book for decoding life by the numbers. The author provides a wealth of information and once you get used to reducing numbers, her method is a breeze to learn and apply. If you're looking for spiritual depth, however, I recommend The Life You Were Born to Live by Dan Millman, which addresses Life Path numbers from a "why am I here?" standpoint, as well as the spiritual laws that can help align yourself with your unique purpose.
Nice... the ONLY substantive numerology book out there!!!!! January 16, 2005 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
I was gonna ask for this book for my birthday, but I couldn't wait so I bought it myself today. Most of the numerology books out there are way too confusing and contradictory. This one isn't. I really believe this is the only numerology book you will ever need. It has many more details and insights than her 1st book, and much better organized too. There are TONS of examples of how the numbers work in various people, someone that is very lacking in other books of this nature. I'd have to also say that I believe this book by Glynis Mccants is wayyyyyy better than any book by Hans Decoz. The reason is that Hans (like most authors of numerology books) fails to describe how compatible one number is to another. Moreover, other numerology books contain so much information about so many minor numbers within you, that when one finishes the book, he or she does not know which way is left and which way is right. I go on a lot of these astrology and numerology message boards, and everybody's saying something like "an asteroid formed a septile to my adjacent pattern of fixed stars which forms a series of aspects to my bridge and maturity numbers, and that's why i'm sensitive." Say what?!? Where are the basics? So many people focus on tons of minor facets of a chart and neglect the MAJOR basics. THIS book has substance and CLARITY. If you are a beginner and deciding between astrology or numerology to gain more insight, please choose numerology to start with, and get only this book (it's the only numerology book you'll ever need). Like Glynis says, this is truly "fast food." It's quick, easy, and SUBSTANTIVE. You will learn tons of details about anybody or anything's energy, and their relationship to your energy. How fantastic is that? And you will learn how to modify energy to meet your goals, and FAST! One thing that you will learn about numerology is that it is very free-flowing, mutable art. If you find out that your name numbers are in conflict with you life path number, this book will tell you how to change your name! If you are a 4 life path (seeking security and stability), and everything in your 5 house is a bunch of chaos and out of control, you can alter the energy of your house immediately, just like that. Numerology, as Glynis seems to describe it, it based about 50% on the numbers, and 50% on free will. It's anything but fatalistic!! You will see the positive and negative sides to every number (which can be radically different), and use affirmation to beginning living on the positive side in no time at all!!! I would give this book 100%, which of course is an A+ !!!
Glynis really does have your number down January 18, 2005 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
Within a day I calculated my family and I was amazed. This is a great book and a different way of looking at your children's & spouse's potential. This is a must read, I shared it with my son and he couldn't believe how accurate it was.
Great book Glynis !!
