Great Read!!! May 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an outstanding political thriller. While it doesn't have the fantastical, over the top concept premise of a Crighton novel, or the complexity of a typical Clancy novel, it is no less riveting. This writer clearly understands story structure and how to use it to advance a narrative expertly. The writing is crisp, lean, efficient, and masterfully juggles many balls in the air without letting them drop. The remarkable part about it is the way the story continually develops from so many different angles.
Envisioning a conspiratorial relationship between a criminal organization within the Cuban government and the president of the United States, the story revolves around a couple of unwitting college kids caught in the middle as a DEA agent puts the case together and tries to help from afar while both governments conspire against them.
The story does lose a little steam as it chugs into its final pages, but the setup is often extraordinary. By the time Pete and Ryder find themselves on a boat with three dead bodies, you can't turn the pages fast enough. I won't spoil the ending, but it is an exciting close and punctuates what was a very richly conceived, tautly plotted novel. Loved it. A+
Great Fun! April 8, 2008 This was a quick read that was very fast paced and a lot of fun. It was especially fun if you know Florida and particularly South Florida. I look forward to Mike's next Book.

Don't Forget To Breathe... April 9, 2008 Really. You just might forget through out the second half of this book. What starts out as a fun romp through South Florida and the surrounding waters during the first half, turns into a twisting turning tale of espionage and international incidents (or lack thereof) involving Castro's Cuba that brings you to a dramatic, nail biting finish. A great read that demands that its author continue in this genre.
