Product Description
Together they find a special love-can it survive the threat stalking her? Some small towns grow really good looking men! This is the case with the four Chase brothers. The home grown hotties are on the wishlist of every single woman in town and Maggie Wright is no exception. Maggie has finally had it with the men she's been dating but a spilled plate of chili cheese fries drops Shane Chase right into her lap. The sheriff is hot stuff but was burned by a former fiancie and is quite happy to play the field. After Shane's skittishness sends him out the door, Maggie realizes that Kyle Chase has had his eye on her from the start. Now that Shane has messed up, Kyle has no intention of letting anything stop him from wooing her right into his bed. Despite Maggie's happiness and growing love with Kyle, a dark shadow threatens everything-she's got a stalker and he's not happy at all. In the end, Maggie will need her wits, strength and the love of her man to get her out alive. Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and some violent situations.

Maggie has always been the overlooked Wright sister. All through high school and beyond, her beautiful sister had overshadowed her, making her feel invisible. She stunned when Sheriff Shane Chase, one of the four gorgeous Chase brothers, takes an interest in her and asks her out. But Shane has issues from the devastating blow dealt to him by his ex-fiance, so when he realizes that Maggie is someone he could come to truly care for he dumps her as quickly and as coldly as he can manage. Shane's mistake is just the opportunity his brother Kyle has been waiting for. When Kyle realizes that Shane is not going to apologize or try to make things right with Maggie, he quickly seizes his chance. He has wanted Maggie from the start but had been willing to step aside because he thought that Maggie would be what Shane's wounded heart needed. Now that Shane's messed up, he's decided to go after what he's wanted. Maggie's hesitant to go out with Shane's brother, not to mention a little shocked that another Chase brother is interested in her but decides to give him a chance. As time passes Maggie discovers that she was dating the wrong Chase brother the first time around. Maggie and Kyle's relationship deepens and they begin to fall in love. But another man is obsessed with Maggie and his anger has slowly built from watching her date Shane and when he sees that she and Kyle are getting serious, his rage explodes. Can Kyle protect the woman he's come to love?

I've long been a fan of Lauren Dane, grabbing whatever she writes as quickly as I can. In my opinion Giving Chase has to be the absolute best book she has ever written. Maggie is heroine who is spunky and independent while Kyle is just the kind of to-die-for hero that I love to read about. Lauren Dane has crafted not only the sensuous passion between them, but also the deepening emotional bonds, in such a way that I became enthralled. Add to this the knowledge that each of Kyle's three yummy brothers are slated to have books of their own and Giving Chase is a book that should be on the top every romance lovers list.

5 out of 5 stars Lauren Dane's new CHASE BROTHERS series is off to a fabulous start with the first book, GIVING CHASE.   January 30, 2007

Maggie has spent her entire life in the shadows of her mother and sister's beauty. Nothing she's ever done has been good enough so she's quit even trying to please her family. Unfortunately, the years of mental abuse have Maggie doubting her own appeal and unable to stand up for herself - until she confronts Shane Chase over his lack of manners.

Kyle Chase has never paid much attention to Maggie. He'd been a few years ahead of her in school and generally goes for the more flamboyant women. He sure notices Maggie when she rakes Shane over the coals, and he can't believe his eyes once he sees her after her friend Liv gives her a make-over. It's just too bad that his brother Shane's also interested in her.

Shane may be the local sheriff, absolutely gorgeous and a member of one of the most prestigious families in Petal, but there's no way Maggie is going to allow him to get away with chiding her when he's the one who backed into her and caused her to spill food on her clothing. What she doesn't realize is that her chastisement of Shane sparks the interest of all of the Chase brothers. The following day Liv gives Maggie a make-over that has the Chase boys sitting up and taking notice. Maggie accepts Shane's apology and even goes out with him a few times but he's still hurting from his ex-fiance's betrayal and not ready to exclusively date only one woman. Kyle allowed Shane his chance with Maggie. When he blows it and Maggie is once again available, Kyle makes his own interest in her known. While Kyle and Maggie's relationship grows, so does the danger from a third man who believes that Maggie belongs to him.

I absolutely love Lauren Dane's GIVING CHASE! While Kyle and Maggie's relationship is a joy to read about, it's really Maggie's developing self-esteem and the way she finally stands up for herself that had me eagerly devouring the pages. The way she tells off her mother and sister is simply delightful and I wanted to applaud her. The entire Chase family is a marked contrast to Maggie's dysfunctional family but their acceptance quickly wins her over. All the Chase boys are drool worthy and I can't wait to see what happens next in this promising series. Ms. Dane's GIVING CHASE is sure to be a hit with readers everywhere. It's definitely a book you'll want to add to your keeper shelf.

GIVING CHASE is the first book in a four book series entitled CHASE BROTHERS. The stories are each about one of the four small town brothers and the women who will be lucky enough to capture his heart.

If you are already a Lauren Dane reader, you know that you are guaranteed to fall absolutely, madly in love with her characters. If you have never read Ms. Dane, Giving Chase, though not her first book, would be an excellent book for a first time Dane reader.

Dane does it again, weaving a tale of a spunky, independent, strong woman with a fractured past. The leading women in her books always represent how, no matter what your past, you can overcome, and through it all, still deserve love and passion. It isn't hard to fall in love with the men in Dane's books either. Beyond being beautiful, the level of adoration and abandon they display in their love is breathtaking.

I will say that the pace of this book was unusual. Not only by Dane standards, but by standards of most books. The way the story is told, is like a passionate night with a lover. As the story moves on, Dane brings the characters into conlict, climax and resolve multiple times. Just when you think that all the loose ends are covered, Dane throws a plot twist that keeps the ride going. It helps that one of the characters is completely unbalanced, but it kept things from being formulaic.

I started reading this book at 1:30 AM because I couldn't sleep and needed the escape. At 7:00 AM I was finishing the book (no sleep). I could not leave those characters. I cried for them, I cheered for them, I felt as if I was having holiday dinner with them. Even the supporting characters are extremely well developed, with their own past, personalities and agendas.

Giving Chase will take you to the edge, bring you down and ramp you right back up again. Although the sexual content comes far later than expected, that is part of the enticement and anticipation. This is a book that feeds the Lauren Dane addict.

How could someone not like Lauren Dane? She is a fresh new voice and writes about the dynamics of small town life very well. We meet the whole Chase family which is mother, father and 4 very studly sons. Enter Maggie. Her family sucks! The romance between Maggie and Kyle develops amid all of his family's warmth and her family's nastiness. I highly recommend it.
