Great Book for interesing facts July 30, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was a great book that taught many new things about Virginia that I didn't know. Many of the stories are funny and weird, very true to the title.
Should be titled "Weird Virginia/DC" September 27, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My husband and I have been reading Weird NJ for about five years now and have even taken a week-long trip to NJ to see some of the weirdness for ourselves, so we were excited when Weird Virginia was published. I really liked the book, but wished there was more stuff from Northern Virginia included, and less stuff from Washington DC. Every time we turned a page there was something about Capitol Hill or Adams Morgan. DC IS NOT VIRGINIA!!!! Maybe Virginia by itself is just not weird enough **sigh**.
Fun book November 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a fun book. It did not have a couple of things I was looking for, but it DID have many things I hadn't thought about in Virginia. I ordered the book to give to my son in college for Christmas as a laugh, but I ended up reading almost the whole thing myself! I am going to order another copy to give as yet another gift for someone else.
Reader Friendly December 19, 2007 Weird Pennsylvania (Weird) I purchased the 'Weird' book for my 10 year old grandson, Jacob, who enjoys weird things and reading about them. I looked through the book before I gave it to him and was pleased that it was full of colorful pictures and illustrations and was easy to read. After giving it to him, I asked him if he had read it, and he indicated 'from cover to cover'. I have since purchased several more. I think this series of books are educational for him because it links his curiosity about 'weird' things with different places in different states.
Very Interesting January 1, 2008 I got this book for my husband for Christmas- and I read it first! I really found it interesting- as we have been in VA for 22 years and didn't even know some of this stuff existed. And my son is in the book in the section on wrestling-which I didn't know! I'd like to read other states by this author.
A fun read- interesting facts.
