As a bookseller, I've handled many tattoo books in the last few years. Books about Sailor Jerry, Don Ed Hardy, and many by lesser known but equally talented artists. These books come in all sizes: bound collections of sheets of flash, heavy-as-a-ship's-anchor coffee-table books, small run monographs. Of all the tattoo books I've touched and sold, "Tattoo Darling" by Angelique Houtkamp is my favorite. From cover to cover, Houtkamp's charming designs and unique style abound. "Charming" isn't a word I would use with most books by tattoo artists--it's not a word you want to use. But "Tattoo Darling" is both cool and charming. She's taken many old school designs--the bold lines, the folkish use of color--and made them her own. Filled with her original works of art and tattoo designs, this is a book that will inspire both tattoo artists and enthusiasts alike. Once you get your hands on this book, you won't let it go.

The book is not big but it makes up for size with bright colorful photos of her designs and tattoos, shes not scared to strip down and show you her own work. She shows you how she creates and the process in which she uses to make these near perfect designs, I find her day of the dead style stuff hot and her wings are original and mabey the best I've seen. I 'd love her to tattoo me she is truely one of our greats. Dirty Dave KCMO

Angelique is a wonderful artist. Her pieces are presented wonderfully in vivid colors. I personally enjoy the stories behind the tattoos that she has. She showcases some of her art in the form of paintings, sketches, painting on baby skulls, and tattoos. Great book!

What a find! Tattoo Darling is a compliation of the artwork of Angelique and provides a snapshot of her life's journey. She is a gifted artist and creates unique designs with old school flavor. It is inspiring to find a woman so accomplished who didn't even venture into the arts and tattooing until age 30.
