Overpriced by the phony publisher March 23, 2004 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful book. The only problem is it is badly overpriced by "DIANE" who states she is the publisher. The real publisher is the University of Wyoming and this 9th edition priced at $45.00. The real publisher didn't realize they had to get a new ISBN number for the new edition. So the 9th edition bears the old ISBN number 0-941570-134. Perhaps Amazon could assign a number with the publisher's correct price of $45, not $60.00
Photos extraodinaire!! Easy to identify. November 11, 2001 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
A must-have book for gardeners, hikers, rural residences. 100% color photos make it great to ID weeds about the house. Categorized by family so pretty easy to find. Books that have art renderings of plants just don't ID a plant for me, and I'm an artist! Any negative about the book would be that it could use more descriptive type about the plant.
One of my very favorite books May 19, 1999 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I acquired this book when it was first published and have been recommending it to everyone. Great pictures. After planting packages of wildflower seeds I did not know which of the little plants were the flowers or weeds. This book straightened me out. The baby weeds were so cute, I was going to remove the wrong plants. My copy is almost worn out, the cover is falling off. I wish they would use better glue. (And I do treat my books well)
an excellent field guide for weed identification June 22, 2000 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have found this book to be of great help in identifying weeds in my area and how to control them. The photographs and the descriptions are very good and make it easy to identify the plants in the field. An excellent guide for anyone in the field of weed control/managment.
Nice pictures but that's all May 12, 2001 10 out of 21 found this review helpful
Ever try to look up a word in a 600 page dictionary that isn't in any order known to you? Unless you know this book's secret you'll have to look through the entire book to find your weed, if it's in the book at all. There is a key on page 603 but no instructions on how to use it and the author apparently doesn't return email inquiries. This book is full of great pictures but if you want a book to help you identify a weed in your garden look somewhere else.
