Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
From Chris Widener, the author of the breakout bestseller The Angel Inside, comes an inspiring new parable on the power of influence.

The Art of Influence will make you think twice about everything you've ever learned about influence. As Chris Widener’s inspiring story reveals, it’s not something you "do" to other people but rather something that starts with how you shape and transform your own life. Forget about manipulation and slick fast-talking; The Art of Influence teaches that your ability to influence others begins from within.

5 out of 5 stars My top three favorite about what manipulates us   July 31, 2008

After How to Measure Anything: Finding the Value of "Intangibles" in Business and Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions, Widener's book is among my favorite about the topic of influence (but Widener should have read the first two). Although I'm not given to reading "inspirational" books (the other two titles are in the realm of scientific inquiry) I found it a useful and entertaining look at what drives and motivates us.

I'm more inclined to ask Widener "How can you say that works better, on average, than an alternative?" then perhaps many readers of inspirational books. The experience of a single person, no matter how moving, can only tell us so much. But, again, it worked for me.

4 out of 5 stars Influence is who you are , not what you do!   July 12, 2008

With a nod to The Ultimate Gift,The Ultimate Gift (The Ultimate Series #1) Chris writes a book that is very readable and inspirational. He helps us sort out that education, though important, is not ultimate in developing a life of influence.

I quote one of Chris' mentors and mine, Jim Rohn. 7 Strategies for Wealth & Happiness: Power Ideas from America's Foremost Business Philosopher"Your education will get you a job, your self education will make you a fortune".

I hope Chris writes a sequel that will develop more fully the 7 area of excellence mentioned in the book. Each could stand as a book to themselves.

This book will join The Richest Man in BabylonThe Richest Man in Babylon as a standard gift from me to high school, trade school or college graduates.

Congrats to Chris and keep up the good writing!

4 out of 5 stars Don't let the small size fool you.   August 8, 2008

Even though this is by far not the largest book I have ever read, it is one of the most influential ones. The plain sense language and conversations in the book make it very enjoyable and insightful. I have already read it twice in the very short time since purchase and I am certain I will read it again and again. It is also one that I will recommend to my children and my employees. It has prompted some very long thinking sessions where daydreams enact changes that I want to make.

4 out of 5 stars Quick and entertaining read   August 9, 2008

This is an excellent book for people who do not want a lot of detail. The use of a story about a real person is an effective way to commnuicate his points about what it takes to become more successful. This would be an excellent book to give a recent college graduate as a present.

5 out of 5 stars Simple and to the Point   August 10, 2008

This was an easy read and really opened up my eyes to some of the things we take for granted. The small things we do can make a great impact on our future success. Good or Bad, we decide by our actions. The story in this book really helps put the Golden Rule into perspective.
