Ladies, use your power to purchase another book! July 14, 2008 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Women, I encourage you to use your Power to choose another title to purchase and read. This book is poorly edited with a significant number of typographical errors. Moreover, it reads much like a rant from a disappointed lover rather than a wise well-meaning father. The author's chauvansitic views include encouraging women to abstain from sex until marriage (as indicated in the Bible) but notes that men need time to be 'playas' before committing. I believe the Bible encouraged both parties to refrain from pre-marital sex? His idea of career planning for women dictates that your decision would not be guided by interests and talent but your ability to work fewer hours and/or only from your home to insure your consistent availability to date 'successful' men, to help them with their dreams and careers, and once chosen for a wife, ultimately to raise the children and to complete household chores. I've heard more interesting, well-researched dialogue on the subject of modern day relationships sitting in my local coffee shop!
Taught me a Few Things About My Power April 16, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Very good book, very informative. I recommended it to a few girlfriends of mine.
My only caveat is that he's extremely bias on his preferences, likes and dislikes in a woman. He doesn't speak for every man (ie. prefers long hair over short, thin over thick, non-smoking over smoking, non-tattooed over tattooed). Let that individual man make that preference.
Also I disagree with some things he said regarding why Black women had to play the lead role (his explanation was that some Black women were threatened by Black men, (yeah right). All in all a good book and a great read.
It should be a requirement to read this book! November 15, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Michael's book reminded me of who I am..."WOMAN". I'm reminded of my role in all my relationships, I know I have the power to make my relationships what they are and will be. It is now my goal to make sure my sister's and every woman I know read this book. It is a foundation we all wished we had. Now I give much thanks to M.J.L., the foundation starter!
a must have for all women November 18, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is a definite must have for all women. It gives a lot of insight about why men and women differ so and why that doesn't have to change, instead we should embrace our differences and learn from each other and appreciate them. It also teaches women young and old that have not had the insight of a male perspective or influence what they can do to help themselves be sronger and more respected by men and other women as well.. Very positive words with a good dose of sometimes unwanted or denied reality that makes you think about your choices wisely before you act not only in your personal relationships with a significant other but people in general as well....
The Truth That Women Have Forgotten! January 24, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
It's ironic that women have become so powerful in the workplace and in politics, but we seem to have forgotten our true power as women! We do have all the power, and Lockwood's daughters are fortunate to have a father who is teaching them the truth! In "Woman Have All The Power...", all women can benefit from the "STRAIGHT UP" words of wisdom this man shares with his girls. If only more women had fathers like him! This book easily surpasses all the other dating and "how to snag a man" books that I have read to date! Great reading!
