1 out of 5 stars Only good for a 'look' at their faces   July 2, 2008

Unlike others, I knew this was a manga comic in advance. However, this was an absolute waste of time and money. The story was boring and pointless. With all the exciting past adventures that have been mentioned throughout all the novels, this is all they could come up with? Where's the cross-eyed ferret, or starved alligator? No appearance by Little Ozzie, Chief Porter seems more like a yes man constantly hoping that Odd will save the day so he won't have to put in any effort, and Stormy and Odd talk about his secrets right next to people yet no one over hears them. Sure, it is only a comic, but I really expected at least some level of Koontz amazing ability to create a suspenseful story filled with exciting and deep characters. This comic absolutely failed to capture even a thimble full of character that so many love in the Odd series.

A Japanese comic booklet. Not even the story is by Koontz. At most - a $1.00 throw away. Save your money if you are a Koontz patron.

1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money   July 2, 2008

If you are a Dean Koontz follower, don't let this deceive you, it is not the standard that we know and enjoy. I thought anything by Koontz was worthy of my money and time. IT'S NOT. THIS IS A TOTAL WASTE. It's for kids that have no imagination and need someone to think for them.

1 out of 5 stars Major Disappointment   July 3, 2008

If I could give this ZERO stars I would have. I pre-ordered this book thinking it was the next novel to in the Odd series. When I got it I was shocked. I will take the responsibility of not reading far enough to know it was a COMIC. That in itself is a joke. I have read almost every Dean Koontz book there is. I am so disappointed. How could he be so careless. What possessed him to think this would fly with his devout followers? I may have to go back to Stephen King. I expect much more from Koontz. This was a total waste of my money and time.

Is there any way to get a refund?

5 out of 5 stars More fun Odd!   July 14, 2008

First I think it's really shameful that people are leaving 1 and 2 star reviews because they made the mistake of not realizing this was a graphic novel. You made the mistake.

This is a fun prequel to the Odd series. It's great to see visuals of Odd and Stormy. If seeing Elvis in the back seat while Odd drives doesn't put a smile on your face then you aren't a true Odd fan. :) It's not as deep or horrific as the other Odd novels, but it's just a really fun glimpse into the further adventures of the lovable Odd. I really loved to see Koonts delve into the comic genre in this format. Boom! studio is currently putting out a Frankenstein comic based on the 1st book for those of you who aren't turned off by pictures with your words. I really hope he does more in this "manga" style. I think it really works for his type of stories.
