Short Book & Short Story Quality July 3, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
I was glad to see this author finally came up with a new story line. The Curtis Black saga had been overdone.
This is a small, short book. The font is large and it is double spaced. Clearly the author struggles to fill the pages. So much trivial dribble is in this book. The author describes radio commercials the main character is hearing on the radio (who cares?), descriptions of things no one cares about,in depth, going nowhere diaglogue, etc.
The story line does not have enough to qualify for being novel material. This feels like a short story, or novella. Its predictable. Its repetitive. Its nothing special.
Save your money.
Definitely a page turner! June 19, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is my first Lawson Roby novel. I read the first chapter through a publisher pre-release promotion of the book. I have to tell you Lawson Roby really hooks you in the first chapter! I was a little surprised at how eager I was for the book to be released. I purchased the Kindle Edition through Amazon as soon as it became available. I read the rest of the novel in one sitting. Perhaps it is the entire premise of the novel and all the twists and turns. As the other reviewer said, I couldn't put it down! I really couldn't put it down! I am going to check out some of her earlier novels.
Disappointing July 6, 2008 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I found this book disappointing. It had a promising beginning, but I found the writing to be blah and the characters one-dimensional. Not worth it, IMO.
God Don't Like Ugly... July 1, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Blake and Kennedi Mason both have life-altering news to share. When Blake shares his news first, it dramatically changes Kennedi's plans for the future. As the story unfolds, Kennedi realizes she must make some unpleasant, but necessary choices.
Once you start reading ONE IN A MILLION, you'll finish it in a few hours. The story gives insight on marriage, family, and friendship, and shows there is a thin line between love, hate, and betrayal.
Kimberla Lawson Roby has written another fabulous tale, and I look forward to her next release.
