3 out of 5 stars Julie Andrews   June 25, 2008

I thought it was very good, however have enjoyed other books about famous people more.

5 out of 5 stars Julie Andrews' Home is a lovely memoir   July 4, 2008
I highly recommend Julie Andrews' "Home: A Memoir of My Early Years." It's a beautifully written book that captures the times and places of the events that took place in her early years (i.e before her film career). As one who, as a young child, first heard her sing on the "My Fair Lady" orginal cast recording, I've been a fan for a very long time. This wonderful book adds to her many extraordinary achievments. I'm so looking forward to the next installment of her amazing life.

2 out of 5 stars Boring   August 3, 2008

I adore Julie Andrews so this book was a huge disappointment. I was so looking forward to getting lost in her words. By page 5, I was beginning to skimread over her tedious and depressing genealogy. Only halfway through the book does she begin describing her acting career. The book ends as she signs up for Mary Poppins. Where was an editor to suggest that anyone other than a devoted fan would find the minutiae of her family troubles a dull read?

1 out of 5 stars Honest to a fault!   December 6, 2008

What a delightful woman and what a challenging childhood. That she survived with her spirit intact has to have something to do with her gift - a pitch perfect voice. The appreciation she received from her teachers and audiences must have filled in for the lack of parenting. I hope she does a sequel about her life in America.

5 out of 5 stars Sweet Home Over the Rainbow   December 25, 2008
This book is written with irresistible honesty.
So I believe it can help some readers in their commitment
to that Land "somewhere over the rainbow" where the Author
probably can be found among the dearest Queens, in the grace
of God and in the grateful people's love. And it's to such
people that the book really looks like an invitation HOME.
