Tattoos your grandpa would be proud of August 9, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
You pampered young'ns don't know nothin' about a real tattoo, a real man tattoo, and one that will scar deep to yer bones. Why, this Mitch O'connell hisself had done tatoos right by me and if'n I were to had this book when I was drafted in WWII, I would've gotten that one hot chick tattoo with the bazooms instead of gettin' Evelyn's name with them two headed bluebirds and Jesus. What the 'ell, love make you do crazy things. Anyway, much of these pitchers looked alike them creepy doe eye paintings my 2nd wife had in our bathrooms, and my ashtrays with them little poodles painted all in hot pink. The shiny covers feel all sissy and smoother than a baby's behind, but I fergive Mr. O'connell cos the inside pages got beauty, blood, guts, and glory written all over it. Ball up and git your man tattoos here, and 'ell, wimmen would look mighty fine in 'em too.
Its Okay July 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book doesn't have any pictures of actual work. Each image looks like a professional cartoon but there are many variations of the same work. For instance he might have 4 pictures of the same woman, with the same face, but wearing different clothes. Almost every image has some cute caption to go along with the picture but I didn't think there was more than a handful someone would want on their body.
The white-hot best of its kind on Earth! April 15, 2007 Mitch O'Connell has been a well-known and highly-respected illustrator for years, and his kitsch-influenced retro style is instantly recognizable. After many people thought well enough of his designs to have them tattooed on their bodies, Mitch decided to go ahead and put together a book of tattoo flash. This is an incredible collection of super-sharp, perfectly-realized nuggets of all the classic tattoo themes and more... Horror, religion, death, liquor, evil clowns and any possible item you can imagine as a tattoo and many that could only come from the mind of Mitch are displayed in a compact little volume with a hilarious introduction and dynamite production. This is a must-have for all lovers of illustration, cartooning, kitsch, tattoo art and retro-inspired and cutting edge design.
Mitch is the MAN April 15, 2007 I found out about Mitch thru his myspace page. All of his creativeness and awesome artwork kept me coming back. When I found out he had published a book of all these cool images, I just had to have it. Mitch had even personally signed this book for me. You can't do any better than that.
GREAT BOOK MITCH!

Fabulous collection of tattoo art!!! April 16, 2007 Mitch O'Connell's book is a must for anyone who's into graphics, comics or tattoos. Mitch has the unique skill of drawing inspiration from popular imagery, without ever indulging in imitation. He has a very distinctive and eye catching style.
