5 out of 5 stars Real Down-to-Earth Cookbook   June 5, 2008
5 out of 6 found this review helpful

This is one of my favorite cookbooks, which is saying quite a lot, since I have over 200! The recipes are some you might remember from your mom or grandma, but with a little southern tweak to them....very tasty. The ingredients aren't hard-to-find ingredients....just things you might already have in stock. The stories written with the recipes are so interesting. They give you a little peak into the celebrity, letting you know she's just a down-home girl. Love this book!

5 out of 5 stars Finally, the Recipes my heart remembers...   May 11, 2008

I grew up in the south and loved my grandmother's cooking. My mother was not a "southern" cook so I never knew the recipes. Finally, I know them! From the first bite of the baked beans and the broccoli salad, my taste buds knew they'd found home. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now I have Alabama cooking in my northern Virginia home!

This cookbook is fabulous! So many of the recipes remind me of what my country grandmother used to make. I have already made over 20 recipes from this book and have liked all but one! I read it cover to cover like it was a chapter book and I had never done that with a cookbook before. Trisha makes you feel like she's writing notes just to you. I ended up buying two more copies to give as gifts. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

5 out of 5 stars EASY COOKIN'   May 11, 2008

This cookbook is amazing. Everything tastes wonderful and is easy to make and adjust to add or take away for your own preference. The pineapple upside down cake was the best I have ever made. The chicken broccoli casserole is awesome, will be buying more copies for family!!!

I thought this was overall a pretty good cookbook. Most of the recipes were simple and down-to-earth. Being a Georgia girl myself, I could
relate to this type of food. I also enjoyed all the pictures. This is
a cookbook worth taking a chance on!
