Spanish version of a classic! December 4, 2004 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
This Spanish version of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is just as cute as the English version. Children will love the pages of varying sizes with holes where the caterpillar has eaten up the food.
You can also practice counting up to five with your little one as the bug eats one apple on Monday, two pears on Tuesday, etc.
The vocabulary in this book DOES require a Spanish speaker in the home. My husband does not speak Spanish and this book is too hard for him to read to our babies, whereas he can read other Spanish board books. Additionally, as it is only in Spanish, my husband cannot compare the Spanish words to English.
Still, I think it's a great addition to your library if one adult speaks Spanish and you are trying to teach your children the language too.
Miniature edition...for hobbits? (Micro edition is more like it) March 14, 2007 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
Don't get me wrong. I LOVED this book as a child, so I couldn't wait to get a copy for my kid. I was in such a hurry that I didn't realize what this publisher (or Amazon) calls MINIATURE EDITION must actually mean miniature edition for hobbits. The text in this book is so small, that I'm afraid it will hurt my child's eyes. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I hate this edition of the book because it's ridiculously small. I mean, it's that revolting.
You might not mind this size, but I heavily recommend checking it out before you purchase. There a much better sizes at Target that actually look like a miniature size for humans, as opposed to this pocket sized edition. This book does not include how the very hungry caterpillar ate a small hole in my wallet either, go figure.
Not accurate information July 20, 1999 10 out of 42 found this review helpful
At the preschool I work at, VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR was read during "butterfly week". As a butterfly gardener, and someone who raises caterpillars indoors and releases the butterflies once they've emerged, I was very dissapointed by this book. The real facts of the life cycle of the butterfly are fascinating for any child, but the author chose to write a fictional book on how much caterpillars eat, including all sorts of human foods. Also butterflies do not spin cocoons--moths do. The preschoolers learned very little from this book.
My cousin can't get enough of this book! November 12, 1999 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Once I read this book to my cousin, and she got me to read it again. I've read this book to her so many times, I know it off by heart. the illustrations in this book are great! I got this book when I was four and i still have it. I recomend this book to all pre-schoolers.
Stunning. May 2, 2004 9 out of 67 found this review helpful
This book has to be one of the greatest sagas ever told, the story of a caterpillar who eats his way to becoming a beautiful butterfly. I think it's a story we can all relate to.I'm going to give it one star anyway because I just stubbed my toe really hard and damn it, I blame this book.
