A new attitude for my 12-year old March 10, 2008 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I highly recommend this book to any parent who has struggled with a smart-mouthed son and hasn't been able to stop it. I followed the principles in the book and this time it seems to have worked. I had a new kid by Friday and today is Monday and so far I still have a new kid. We had a terrific weekend and I even felt like a new mom because I enjoyed the time I spent with my son instead of arguing with him. Now i'm looking forward to building a better relationship with my son and encouraging him in his new behavior and attitude.
Day ONE and it's already working April 17, 2008 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
This morning we were in for our usual get up, get dressed, get out the door battle with our nine year old daughter, but I decided to go ahead and get started with the "Say it once, turn your back and walk away" and HOLY COW! It worked. I can't wait to get through the rest of this book.
Great for Teachers, Parents and Principals April 8, 2008 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I am a Middle School Principal here in the Chicagoland area. A parent of one of my students gave me this book to read. I enjoyed it so much and found the ideas to be so worthy, that I bought several copies for our school to use for teacher in-service training on discipline and responsibility. We also put several copies in the office for parents to check out to assist them in raising respectful kids. This is a great book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who works with kids and certainly to any parent! We are also looking into having Dr. Leman to our school for a parents night out seminar.
Great as a reference June 1, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I think the content is good, but I actually got more out of his "Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours" book. It was just a little too general for my taste. I think his points were great, I just found myself wanting more detail! I didn't realize, however, that most of the book is comprised of "Ask Dr. Leman" topics which actually work great as a reference tool on an "as-needed" basis. Overall, I trust anything he writes - he's got the right ideas for parenting!

Quick read with easy to follow advice. Very relevant for any aged kid -- very young through early adult. I am using it's advice now and enjoying the results.
