The Perfect Rip Off August 6, 2008 19 out of 22 found this review helpful
I'll start by confessing that I paid in excess of $129.00 for the delux edition with the ab straps...
This is the latest and greatest in Chinese engineering. Keep in mind that you need to mount this contraption as high as possible in a "standard" doorway to achieve the height for it to work properly or you'll be doing some of the exercises on your knees.
Ist, try getting the screws into the top of the doorway. There is so little clearance from where the screw hole is supposed to be & the top of the door jamb. Impossible to drill a straight hole & even harder to get the screw in. Didn't really matter though; most of ther screw heads broke off before the screws were seated. Note: its not just one screw that broke. They all either broke or the heads deformed prior to being seated.Unbelievable!
I am not a novice with hand tools. Indeed, I own every type of tool there is. However,no quality or quantity of tool could help me with this piece of junk! The fold down part of this contraption is unpredictable & always manages to bind. This is a BIG quality control issue.
There is a lot of deception sold with this product. In the advertisment pictures you would suspect that the product is made of steel. What you discover upon unpackaging the contents of the box is that manufactures have mastered the art of painting plastic to resemble metal.
This is the first disappointment. The second dissappointment (and it wouldn't have been that big a deal if everything else was good)..was that there was no hex key. It was supposed to be included (and maybe most people actually get one) but was not. I hope everybody can find their "metric" hex wrench set to cure this problem. If you have to go out and buy a hex wrench you can take one of the broken screw heads with you and buy screws at the same time.--but good luck with finding a screw with the exact same head taper to fit the holes.
I was moved to try and contact the vendor by email.I never heard a word in reply. This is the real test of a solid, quality seller.
The idea of the workout that the perfect pull-up represents is great!! Too bad that idea is executed with such poor quality materials-- maybe "they" thought nobody would notice.
My son does use the pull-up portion of this device everyday. Unfortunately, the pull-down part is to troublesome to coax into use but we make lemonade out of lemons,so to speak. Overall this is a purchase I regret.I could have purchased a quality pull-up bar for less money and headaches. If you got to have one,Wait!...you will eventually be able to buy one at Big Lots for $19.95
I do own the Perfect Push Up-No problems there. Must be a distant relative.
Perhaps not perfect but certainly great July 2, 2008 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I must admit, I bought this with skepticism. After all a pull up should be a pull up. Nevertheless, after some disappointing looks in the mirror, I decided to buck up and work towards that old college body. Well this is more than a pull up bar. It allows for rows and other back exercises that make this well worth the money. I was initially disappointed by the perceived flimsy side bars. However, after discovering the frame I was installing to was not straight, I was grateful for the flexible. The only reason for my 4 star rating is the included hardware. You'll be installing this to a wood frame. I drilled pilots yet all the included screws stripped during installation. I had to then dig for my own hardware which can be very annoying. Otherwise, this is smart product. I would certainly recommend.

Why would you charge 100 dollars for a strap that rotates as you do a pull up?? Here do this get a 10 dollar pull up bar and buy two handles that hook onto the bar and there you go its a PERFECT PULL UP. Not worth the 100 dollars, I can build the same set up for about 25 bucks.
The Perfect Pullup is a Great Product May 14, 2008 9 out of 21 found this review helpful
I bought my first Perfect Pullup two months ago and I love it. I recently purchased a second one for a vacation home. This product was simple to install, it is easy to use, and gives you confidence that it won't break! I weigh over 200 pounds and this product holds my weight effortlessly as I do pullups without putting stress on a door like many other products. In addition, the product offers three great exercises. Lastly, most of this device can be quickly removed from the doorframe and stored under the bed.
Good Value May 14, 2008 9 out of 13 found this review helpful
I purchased the Perfect Pull-up because I am a dedicated user of the Perfect Pushup. While the Pushup gives a good chest and arm workout, the Pull-up gives a great back workout. I upgraded to the Ab Straps, so I can now work my stomache too. My wife and I found these two products to be a great value because we were able to cancel our gym membership (saving us $100's a year). AND the products take up little to no space in our small house. The Pushup tucks under the bed and the Pull-up installs easily in the door frame (with no interuption to the door swinging open/closed).
