4 out of 5 stars Great Workout   April 3, 2008

I haven't exercised consistently in about 3 years so I'm doing Level 1. I've only done if for 2 days, but it's a great workout. It's intense and you are done before you know it!

My only complaint is that there is no diet/nutrition information other than referring you to her website or other books. Also, it seems somewhat misleading. 30 Day Shred - meaning if I do this for 30 days in a row, I will see results? Or does it allow you to take any days off? And losing up to 20 pounds...if I only do this workout? I guess I would like some clarification. Anyone have any ideas? I mean, we all know to cut our calorie intake and what to eat, but I would like to know specifically what to do in terms of exercise and nutrition what I need to do to lose 20 pounds in 30 days.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing workout!   April 22, 2008

I bought this video with the intention of overall toning and weight loss. I will say that the program is working quite well. I am on day 21 and have dropped about 9lbs and my overall energy level and stamina has improved. Just to give you an idea where I started, I was about 154lbs and now 145. I am 5'6" and under the age of 30. Just stick with it! It works! I have tried many different videos and found this is great even for me with no cordination whatsoever! Before this video I ran up the stairs and got winded. Now I can jog 1/2 mile and not feel too tired. Also my husband has told me he has seen a great improvement in my overall energy. I would reccomend this product to anyone who wants to increase their strength, tone and loose inches off their body. I havent changed much in my diet other than lots of water and no alcohol. Also cutting calories helps too but I love my ice cream treat every now and then. So all in all great product!!

5 out of 5 stars Short but sweet   April 22, 2008

I received my copy about 6 days ago and have done workout #1 five times. I really like it. I won't repeat the other reviews (which by experience are quite accurate-and should be read) but here are a few things that I don't think anyone mentioned that I really like.

-It goes by very quickly. I know everyone says its short but really it flies by faster than any other workout I do or have done. I get bored easy and it is over before I can talk myself into blowing off the workout or quitting early. I also feel like I get an effective workout for my time (especially my neglected arms and abs).

- It can be done in a small space. My apartment is SMALL. I have had problems with videos in the past that require a whole room's worth of space to go back and forth (which I do not have).

- (based only on the first workout) the exercises often incorporate the hand weights (o-yea you need hand weights which I don't think is mentioned anywhere here) This means that the intensity can be changed easily up or down by changing the amount of weight.

I really enjoy this video and received exactly what I expected based on the reviews and I am very happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 stars The Perfect Workout Video   May 10, 2008

I am in semi-good shape. I run 3-4 days a week, but I needed something besides cardio. This is THE perfect video if you ask me. Here are the reasons why
1) It is short enough that I can always get motivated to do it. I always tell myself, "It's only 20 minutes. I can work out for 20 minutes." (Even though it is slightly longer).

2)I have only done the first workout, but I am really motivated to keep using this video because I want to be able to move on to the 2nd set. I am dying to see what the 2nd round is like!

3)The exercises are very "back to the basics". I like this. No fancy moves, just jumping jacks, squats, high knees, crunches-- oldies but goodies.

4) Each workout is a short warm up and then 3 rotations. I like being able to check things off, so I just tell myself, just make it through this one rotation, and then just 2 more and you're done! It breaks the video up into smaller segments, which makes it fly by.

Although I wouldn't do this workout exclusively (there aren't any videos that I would), it is a great addition to my running, and I feel like I am finally doing something about getting toned!

Oh, just a minor tip I learned: to make the push ups easier, but harder than doing them on your knees, you can use a exercise ball to put underneath your legs. The closer up to your midsection, the easier the pushups. As you get stronger, you can roll the ball closer to your ankles.

UPDATE: I just tried routine 2 for the first time last night. I thought, "how much harder can it really be?" It really kicked my butt! The plank work and those plank jacks....killer! I am taking a day off to recover, but I'm already looking forward to doing it again because it is hard but short.

5 out of 5 stars Yikes!!!   July 8, 2008

I have never in my life gotten results like I have with Jillian's 30 Day Shred!!! I stumbled across her videos on my "On Demand" menu from Comcast and have been addicted ever since! All that was available on my TV was the phase 2 and 3, so I actually never even saw phase 1 when I started :0

I am not in the best shape in the world. I used to play sports but have not in the last 7 years. I am only about 10 lbs overweight but am looking to lose about 20 lbs and to completely tone up.

So... I get my mat and my weights out, (I use 3 pounders), and start phase 2. Umm ya, I thought I was going to DIE!! This is a really intense workout but I did however stick with the full 20 minutes. You do really have to push yourself, Jillian says that your body can not adapt to what you want it to do if you do not push it! I do not think I have ever sweated that much in my life!

Yes there are some basic moves in this seris but I have to say that they are pretty darn effective. I did 6 straight days of phase 2 and got increasingly better with each passing day. (Do not get me wrong, I still sweated up a storm and wanted to quit). After those 6 days I had only lost about 2 lbs but I could see a MAJOR difference in my body. My arms were firmer, my abs felt tighter, my love handles were a little smaller, my legs were stronger and my back... oh the best part, my back was ripped! People were also telling me my face was thinner! My clothes also were fitting better and even feeling a little loose.

I had to take a week off which sucked, but I ordered the DVD and it is just fantastic. I started back up again and never bothered to look at phase 1 since I can already do phase 2. I also have only WATCHED phase 3 and have yet to actually do it but it looks hella intense!

I see no problem doing part of this video everyday. Just listen to your body and be responsible, you know its limits. I actually had very minimal pain and that is what led me to do it everyday; I was barely sore at all!

I have tried many things to get in shape but nothing, absolutely nothing, has given me results like this!

Please do not forget that with any exercise program you must incorporate a healthy diet. If you want results you have to make sacrifices. In a world drenched in fast greasy foods, oversized portions and processed garbage galore it is hard to make good choices. Do your best to eat out less, to cook more healthful meals, to use lots of fruits, veggies, and whole grains, to drink a minimal amount of alcohol and to try and drink a lot of water.

You can do it! Commit! I really mean it! You have to give it your all!

Good luck and I will keep you posted, I am doing 30 straight days!!
