Better than my first two and lower cost! March 12, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have had two pulse monitors before this - both made by Polar. I just wanted a basic model. No frills. Paid over $50 for the first and over 40 for the same model a couple years later. This monitor has many more features at less money! The description I read said you could change the batteries yourself (we'll see) - polar had to be sent to the factory!!
Very pleased so far. Had about a month.
Just OKAY June 13, 2006 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
This unit seems to pickup my heart rate pretty readly once I wear the chest belt but the display unit seems to drop the signal if it is more than 1.5 feet from the sending unit. Also the heart rate seems to go all over the spectrum at times(sometimes the reading will be 40 and the next moment at 220)so I'm not too sure about the acuracy when it's not fluctuating. But this helps me get an overall idea of the heart rate so I can keep it in the target range. For the price, this is an okay device if you're not picky about the acuracy.
Omord HR-100C is a good basic unit November 8, 2006 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I have had Omord HR-100C for a few months now. I use it wile on my treadmill. It seems to take a wile before it starts to register the hart rate; I think it is because the sending unit needs some moisture to make good contact with your skin. I did have some trouble with the unit when I first started using it; I replaced the battery in the sending unit which solved the problem. The fact that the battery is user replaceable is one of the main reasons I picked the Omord brand. The HR-100C is a bare bones unit and does a good job if you are looking for an inexpensive basic hart rate monitor.
THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER WRITTEN A REVIEW August 11, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I was looking to buy a "cheaper" heart monitor as I'm training for my first half-marathon and wanted to be able to set/adjust a pace for myself. The watch is great (stop watch, water proof) and the heart monitor strap is comfortable, but the heart monitor (for me) has only worked half of the time. I have never written a review before because I tend to think that people have jaded perceptions or their experience "won't be like mine." Yesterday, I ran 7.4 miles and the monitor did not work the entire run and only picked up and started working about 2 minutes after I had finished. Today, after running 5.5 miles and it not working at all again, I vowed to come inside and write a review. If you're looking to buy a cheap monitor and don't need something completely reliable (i.e., aren't concerned EVERY TIME about heart rate), then this would be o.k. because you at least have the watch/timer out of the deal. HOWEVER, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A RELIABLE, ACCURATE HEART RATE MONITOR, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO SPEND A LITTLE MORE. Like I said, just my two cents. Good luck!
Unblievable heart rates November 25, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
This monitor seems to require just the right conditions to work. When I used it on an elliptical trainer (the Gazelle, whose own pulse monitor seems to show double my heart rate most of the time), it gave believable readings, not too far from ones shown on an Omron sleeve-type blood pressure monitor. But when I used it on bike rides, or just walking around, even after wetting the chest strap (not easy to do constantly when you're out in the park and its cold or you don't want to pull up your sweatshirt in public!), it gave very weird readings, when it gave any (half the time it just says zero): a rate of 67 when biking up a steep hill, and rates of 120-160 when just standing next to my bike, relaxed and admiring the views from Central Park! This happened so much I gave up and returned it.
