1 out of 5 stars Buy it and Wait one million years to receive the watch   August 21, 2006

Beware, It seems Amazon doesn't have this watch in stock. I placed this order one week ago and I'm still waiting for them to ship it out to me. Called several times nobody seems to care. I never received this watch. Amazon charged me 209 dollars before the watch was shipped out. Amazon's claim that they don't charge anything before the item is shipped is all lies. Amazon used to be good but not anymore. Helpdesk agents just take calls but would never take any action to resolve the issues for clients.

I got this watch because I love flight watches and I really wanted to get a Breitling but found out it costs more than I thought so I go this instead to satisfy my urge and my wallet. It looks great and similar to the Navitimer but like ten times less?! There is another similar watch that Seiko makes that also has the world time, so you might want to get that instead but the extra LCD display kind of ruins the classical face for me. The only downside to getting this is that there is really cool technology out there by Seiko and Citizen that eliminates the use of the watch battery, basically you never have to change the battery again. That is really cool as cracking open the watch every year or two cannot be good and not to mention extra costs. Kudos for you, bad for the watch repair guy.

4 out of 5 stars Good, but not a Navitimer   August 18, 2007

This is a fantastic slide-rule watch for the price you're paying for it. The build quality is rock solid and the pushbuttons screw down firmly. And it has an alarm and the accuracy of quartz. The manual is a good practical introduction to using the slide rule functions.

However, it is not a Breitling Navitimer. My main gripe about the SNA411 is the design of the bezel and face. It's just too busy! It has many different scales: a compass scale, a bezel log scale, a dial log scale, a conversion scale, a tachymeter scale, and a time scale. It's difficult to make out the numbers on each scale without squinting.

Also, the 10 on the dial log scale and the bezel log scale aren't highlighted in any special color, making it hard to make out when doing multiplication/division.

But don't get me wrong: for the price (a couple hundred dollars - cheaper on eBay), this is a great watch and a fantastic deal. Frustration, sometimes, but no regrets.

Fine print on the watch dials, thats about the only headache... Other than that, this piece came in only a week ago... no cuts or bruises on the wrist, and have realised I require reading glasses to read the manual and read what happens inside the watch.
Amazon delivered it within the time frame that I got while ordering the watch, intact. The finish is excellent, the strap is sturdy and watch gets noticed. Will finish the manual, figure out the alarm and the dual time business in a bit. More later.

3 out of 5 stars Error in Description   January 5, 2007

I brought this watch from Amazon and returned it because it does NOT have a push-buton clasp as stated in the listing. It has a foldover safety clasp. I realize that this may be a distinction without a difference for many, but for me it was a dealbreaker. The really infortunate thing is that Amazon charged me a fee for the return even though their listing is incorrect.
