Thoroughly excellent May 8, 2003 16 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought this E.P. back in the days of vinyl, "Batastrophe". I found out a little more about the band "Specimen" and the "Batcave". I have wanted Batastrophe since the dawn of cd's, and never thought it would be available on cd. WELL GUESS WHAT, IT IS! And then some. This cd is Batastrophe and then some. Obviously I recommend Wet Warm Cling Film Red Velvet!
Way before its time still holds the line..... April 20, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
1983 brought Specimen to the front of what was very Nu Wave. What else could you call it. It was punk, it was goth, it was synth, it was bloody rock and roll and very scary for its time. I was so pleased to see this release on disc. From Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Beauty of Posion, and Teeth Pretty Teeth, it makes me wonder where I went so wrong in life...call it nostalgia or slip it in with your Manson/NIN mixes and watch how curious your listeners will be...
"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" alone is worth the price of the CD ! November 20, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had SPECIMEN's EP on vinyl since the 80's and have never parted with it because I absolutely LOVE the extended quitar squeal at the end of "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"... For years I thought I'd never find it on CD because Specimen was so obscure when I first heard them and bought their vinyl EP. Thank GOD! I've found it on CD at last (:
Worth waiting for September 20, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This band was popular for about 20 seconds in the 80's When new I spent days looking for tapes from this group. I finally found one in a used music store about 5 years ago. It was promptly stolen. It is a very strange sound with extreamly wild and interesting vocals. It's well worth the price if your looking for something truly on the edge. Give it a try.
