pretty good September 30, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I saw these guys in concert recently, and they actually are a bit better live. Otherwise Echoes does need a little more range in sound and technique, but i still enjoy them immensely. She does need to speed her voice up a bit though. For gothic music its pretty par for the course.
keep metal alive September 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Would like to see more from this group but would also like to see more dynamic range from the Hottie they have fronting them. The riffs are killer, nice use of double bass very tranquil melodies.
American gothic September 12, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This CD has a female fronted gothic metal sound, but is not european sounding, the guitar work is quite different and the melody is provided by the female vocals, which are not classical sounding at all. The tracks 'expression of flesh' and voices in a dream' were played on the radio here in australia, and are the standout tracks for me, the others being consistant but a bit monotonous. The reason this band appeals to me is their similar sound to another American band from the late 90's or early 2000's called 'Alas' and their album 'absolute purity' which had similar guitar but more classical sounding vocals. Fans of this band should check out the title track from Alas's album to get an idea of their sound. While this sound wont appeal to everyone,it adds another sound to broaden metal a little, for those with a broad taste like my own.
Mediocre August 30, 2007 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
This may be a little unfair, but I'm deducting one star just because the advertising sticker on the CD compaired Echoes of Eternity to the almighty Leaves' Eyes. There is no comparison. That being said, this band does have some potential. In my humble opinion, though, all the songs on this album sound pretty much the same. And the sound is somewhat disjointed. There are enough good things about the album to warrant a look at, but my suggestion would be to listen to at least two or three songs before purchasing.
