I want to do THIS much damage! March 6, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have really enjoyed my pound of dice. I've got enough I ll never be able to lose them all! I've found some nice dice that give me excellent rolls; I started off the D&D campaign rolling a 20, and on anything attack based I've rolled a 14 or better! Eight identical d6s in the bag regularly give me 5s and 6s; had I been rolling a character with these dice, her stats would have been 18, 17, 18, 16, 15, not even kidding!
I've also been selling sets of dice 1 of each + 4d6 to friends for $5 I still make a minor profit but they re still paying half of what they would shell out for a set of dice from a store. I got lots of nice dice in this set. My only complaint is the excess of d4 and not enough d12. But hey, you get a pretty random assortment so it s understandable. My bag included around 80 dice. ~20d6, 13d20, 5d12, lotsd4, ~15d10, ~10d8... Somewhere around there. I recommend this product to anyone and their family/friends that planning on really getting into tabletop games! Just this bag will be enough dice for at least 7 people. And then you can mix and match up your own sets!
How fun! January 27, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was a great purchase. It arrived quickly and the seller even separated out a full set of matching dice. We'd shopped retail outlets and came back to Amazon. Thank you - we've had hours of group gaming fun!
A Super Collection May 16, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Chessex Pound-of-Dice really put a smile on my face. Each bag contains about 100 dice (the actually number may vary since the number is determined by weight) in all shapes and sizes. Included are D4s, D6s, D8s, D10s, D12s, and D20s. Most of the dice I received in the bag I got were speckled or mottled, but I imagine that may change depending on what Chessex has an excess of. I'd really recommend this to DMs who are just starting out. This will give you a really good starting collection of dice. I'd also recommend this for parents of elementary school children or school teachers. The dice can serve as colorful teaching tools for elementary school math and can even be used for teaching young children about the concept of probability.
SWEET DICE! May 18, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product is AWESOME. I'd spend easily 3x as much buying this much dicage at my local gaming store. Also, as a female gamer, it's nice to be able to buy them online and not get the 'alien stare' when I shop for dice. There was only 1 unusable die in the bag (a malformed d6), but it is a great marker for my character, so it's no loss for me. I definitely recommend this product to ANYONE looking to increase their dice collection, or get their first big haul. I will DEFINITELY be buying this again when I want to get more dice.
Good value, but bad distribution June 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'll more or less echo what several others have said: it's definitely not random. You'll note that most of the reviewers who had a dearth of certain dice were short on d4s, d8s, and d12s. That holds true for me, as well. My breakdown (not including the complete set that comes with it):
d4s: 4 d6s: 43 d8s: 8 d10s: 39 d12s: 9 d20s: 11
All in all it's a good price, and shipping was nice and quick. In my case, though, I was trying to get dice for a group of new players I'm dragging into 4th Edition DnD, none of whom have any dice. I'm one d4 short of the 6 sets I need to give them each one. Oh well.
