As the OVA sequel to the vampire-adventure Hellsing builds toward its climax, the carnage continues, but with new targets. Sir Integra Hellsing meets with representatives of the Vatican's Iscariot Organization to discover who launched the ghoul-army against her headquarters in the previous episode. The perpetrators are the Millennium Brigade, a cadre of Nazis who moved their research program involving the undead to South America after WW II--with the assistance of the Pope. Hellsing dispatches Arucard and Seras to Rio de Janeiro on a "search and destroy" mission against the Millennium Brigade. The cover of the disc promises "a carnal bloodbath of epic proportions," and Hellsing delivers. Arucard attacks a human SWAT team, impaling its members on flagpoles, shooting them at point-blank range, and ripping out their throats with his fangs. As the entire series to date could easily fit on two discs, this release pattern seems chintzy. (Rated 16 and older, but more appropriate for 18 and older: graphic violence, violence against women, sadism, grotesque imagery, tobacco use, profanity, potentially offensive religious imagery) --Charles Solomon

4 out of 5 stars Great series so far but one thing that annoys me alot!   November 12, 2007

I haven't read the manga so I don't know how accurate the series is. All I know is that Hellsing is moving in the right direction as far as a good anime goes. The story and plot is getting a bit deeper now.

The Hellsing organization has a meeting with their rival to talk about the group responsible for attacking them. Later Arucard is ambushed in a hotal and given strict orders by Integra to kill anyone who stands in his way. The result is a gory bloodbath and a very intense battle with a strong foe.

The animation is very consistent and fluid during the battles. The character designs are well done and the soundtrack is still bangin' for the most part. The dialogue is still just as good as the first two volumes. A little better in this one to me.

Now the major problem I have with this series so far. I usually don't mind the little shifts in scenes to the comical comic strips and exaggerated faces with oversize tear drops. But that doesn't fit with Hellsing at all. An anime like this should never lose its dark and serious tone. The first two volumes had contained this but in small doses. This one it got a bit out of hand and just became annoying to me. If it wasn't for the fact that Arucard is such a cool, ruthless, and very easy to love character. To include those scenes haven't included him. I probably would stop right here with this volume. Its hard to continue taking a dark anime like this serious when it features something like that for one second.

I'm not saying this is a bad anime at all but thats my one gripe with this. It just doesn't belong in a serious, dark, killfest like this. It deserves the Angel Cop and 8-Man treatment.

5 out of 5 stars Hellsing-Truly Ultimate   October 16, 2007

For any one who doesn't know, the Hellsing Ultimate series is a beautiful and almost perfect adaptation of the original manga. Each volume is exactly one volume of the manga, of which there are eight so far, and, as anyone who has read the original will tell you, the original manga and the first Hellsing anime had almost nothing in common besides main characters (and not even all of those). Few (of those who don't hate vampires or coolness in general, of course) could read the manga and not be fanatically hooked. This series (the manga) has reached a level few ever attain. Buy it, watch it, love it; You will.

3 out of 5 stars The first one   August 30, 2007

This is the first of this new series I can recommend. So why only 3 stars?

Well this Vol still suffers the same issues the previous two do. The pace of the show is to rapid, the characters are weakly represented, this one has even more of that needless and jarring switch in art style (the comedy bits), and what parts this one shares with the original anime, are done better in the original.

So why recommend it? because this is the first Vol that significantly diverges from the original anime story wise. This new one apparently follows the manga closer than the original anime did. Which means folks we are getting more of the Hellsing story. While I do wish this new one was done as well as the original, I can overlook some of that to see the continuation of the Hellsing story, something the original anime definately left me wanting more of.

For those wondering about the original anime, take a look at it here:Hellsing (Complete Boxed Set)

5 out of 5 stars Why I Love it   November 24, 2007
I think that this is so close to the manga I mean I could pick up my manga and follow along I have no complaints about the dub or the animation except one pips dub i don't really like pips english actor but other than that I would highly recommend you buy this DVD or you could even get the Special Edition with a cool cover and more!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Anime   November 27, 2007
I was skeptical about buying the Hellsing Ultimate DVDs after already owning the Hellsing Boxset. Don't miss out on this series at all, the story follows the Manga more closely and the animation is amazing. This is how the series should have been in the first place and this third volume is my favorite so far. If you are a Hellsing fan or want an action anime that combines a good storyline, memorable characters and over the top violence then this is for you!
