Almost Perfect! January 2, 2006 107 out of 110 found this review helpful
I love this little speaker!!! It is compatible with almost all types of MP3 player and all the ipods. I have it for a few months and it works perfectly! Sound quality is great, superior bass! I am really picky about the quality of mini speakers and have tested numerous of them. None is perfect. But my research and experience have convinced me that currently there are only these four the best so far. Here is a brief comparison of the three most wanted ipod/mp3 speakers: Bose SoundDock Digital Music System: Best sound quality but less perfect bass effect; Klipsch IGroove: Better bass quality than Bose but sound quality not as good as Bose but is great enough to produce excellent theater effect in your room; Kensington SX200: For the price, unbeatable! you won't find another of equal quality! Bass is a tiny little bit less great than Bose, but comparable! More reliable than Bose and Klipsch!Slim design! I dropped my on the floor twice and nothing was wrong so far--not even a little static! Altec Lansing inMotion iM7: Bulky, not as good as the above three!
Great gift item (for you or someone else!)...incredible sound! January 5, 2006 62 out of 63 found this review helpful
First off, I read a review about these sounding like a laptop's speakers...no way! These speakers are really loud and have excellent bass. I use these for my home office, but also move them to my kitchen and my backyard for parties and when I'm using the hot tub.
That's one thing that's really missing from the other ipod speakers I looked at. Except for Bose and Kensington, they all sound tinny...you know that sound that makes you wince when it is turned up loud.
Not the Kensington speakers. The bass is fantastic, and the overall sound is great. Plus it fits my iPod video and if I ever get the nano or something new, it will fit that too because it has the "universal well". My sister came over for the holidays and had an iPod shuffle, and it has an auxillary input so you can play the shuffle as well.
All around, I am really happy with this. It looks great, sounds great, and is a perfect way to add music to any room in my house.
A very warm speaker at a wonderful prize December 3, 2006 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
I have had my SX 2000 four about four months now, and I use it to listen to my iPod and it also serves (through its auxiliary in port) as the primary speaker for my home computer system. I like the sound a lot, and I think that it has something of a warm sound with a somewhat prominent mid range. It has pretty good bass considering its size, but the high range is not reproduced quite as well as my JBL InConcert. Overall, though, I prefer the sound of the Kensington over the JBL, as it seems somewhat richer and fuller and it projects a nicer sound. I think the Kensington sounds good on a wide range of music from Christmas songs through Celtic music through classical music as well, and it sounds especially good when listening to voice on podcasts. It does charge my iPod, and it can accept input from anything that can connect to it with a mini stereo cable. When I bought it several months ago, it was about $75, and it was a bargain then. At the current price of $49.99 it's an even more remarkable bargain. I'm tempted to buy another one, just in case anything happens to mine.
Good for price but not great sound November 12, 2006 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I like this unit for the price, but was disappointed in the sound quality because I was expecting too much from the reviews. I don't know where all the claims of good sound quality are coming from because it's really not that great. My Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 has much better sound quality and far superior bass (but it costs a lot more). However, I think the sound is "OK" for the size of the unit and because of the price, size, and design, I'm giving it 4 stars. But don't buy this if you want very good/great sound quality. It's just "OK".
Sleek Design and Good Sound March 21, 2006 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I've been using mine for a little over a month now, and I have to say I really enjoy it. I use mine at work, in lieu of computer speakers, and the sound is good enough to enjoy and it looks good on my desk. If you're expecting top-notch quality sound, please be realistic, it's a small speaker and amp, so expect it to sound like typical computer speakers. It does it job, and looks good doing it. If you really want top-notch stereo sound, try their stereo-dock, I also picked up one of those, which provides a flawless interface into my home stereo.
For a time I was using it in my car with an AC/DC adapter (my car stereo broke) and it worked well in there too!
