fits well, even on my pudgy arms... October 22, 2006 32 out of 35 found this review helpful
I understand the frustration by some concerning the lack of a display function - but think about it - once you start moving, you do not need to look at the display - the audio tells you how far you're going. The nano itself is positioned on the outside of your arm - which means if there was a window for the display, you couldn't see it anyway.
I think the firmware in the Nike+ module needs to be updated so you get audio feedback on what menu you're pressing - so you can make adjustments while moving/running/crawling w/o having to pull the unit out of the case.
Nike has actually done a lot of research to come out w/ patented fabrics that wisk away moisture - the nano fits in there w/ the module like a glove. With this on my fat arm, I could barely feel the thing. I've tried other armbands and this is the most comfortable one I've ever used.
My less than perfect rating is for the hole for accessing the audio port needs to be a tad bigger or at least ribbed w/ a gasket or something. During movement, it can shift and the thin fabric can get between the earbud connector and the audio jack, slightly separating the two and causing yucky sound quality.
Also, it would be nice if there was an XXL model for folks w/ bigger arms. This one fits me fine, but if someone w/ arms like the Governator wants to use this - good luck to you.
I would also have appreciated some sort of channel for cord for the earbuds to follow. I may start wearding armband upside down so the earbuds can go up my sleeve naturally instead of awkwardly down, then back up. I was aware of the cord to the earbuds rubbing along my arm during my walk.
The inside of the armband has silkscreened washing instructions. The scrollwheel, select button and clickwheel work like a charm through the fabric. I see why most people would initially balk at the design - but I do believe the shortcomings are more w/ the software limitations - this lightweight armband is really well designed - it's durable, but you cannot even feel it when it's on.
Aggravating to jog with December 11, 2006 15 out of 25 found this review helpful
As a sports wristband presumably designed specifically for jogging with the Nike+iPod setup, this thing is really brain-dead. Not seeing the screen WHILE running is not the issue. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten everything together, walked out the door, pushed play as I started into my workout, then realized that I need to change something (like shuffling the music, or choosing a different workout mix) and have to STOP EVERYTHING, take the whole thing OFF my arm, etc. just to change things. Same thing coming back -- to stop your workout, you have to remember which buttons to press (is it middle button, then menu?) since you can't see anything. What if you just want to pause?? You end up unplugging the headphones and taking everything apart just to stop your workout, and you don't get to hear the little congratulatory voice telling you what a great workout you just had -- that little motiviational voice is a big part of what you're paying for (for me, at least)!
Save your money and buy one of the many non-retardedly-designed bands available.
Ridiculous, Designed quite possibly by Fisher-Price September 27, 2006 7 out of 17 found this review helpful
First off, I'll talk about the size of the band. The armband is resizable by velcro and at it's smallest, it's too tight for my arm. I'm a runner not a bodybuilder, so go figure who on who decided the proper size for this thing should be. Next, a key feature of the Nike+ is......well, let's see, how about the fact that it can display all of your running data as you run? It shows MPH, laps, etc.... What good is it to display ALL of this data on the IPod Nano screen as you run....if the Nike+ case covers the screen completely. There are hundreds of Ipod armband cases on the market and this is the first one I have ever seen that covers the screen.
So, to recap. It's way too small. And, while the purpose of the Nike+ is to display running stats.....the Nike+ armband covers the screen. Way to go Nike.
Waste of money October 11, 2006 7 out of 16 found this review helpful
I ordered this armband when I ordered my 2nd Generation 8GB Nano. I wish I hadn't. I've never actually used it. I think it is probably possible to put my Nano inside it, but it covers the screen if I do, and if I wanted an iPod with no screen I would have bought a "shuffle" (no thanks).
If I had bothered to squeeze my Nano into this thing, I don't know how I would have attached it to my arm, it is so small. Apparently designed for small children.
Why two stars? The black and red colors match my watch, and I appreciate the washing instructions included with the product, as I'm sure if I ever used it, I would need to wash it. Saving this one for the next yard sale.
Postscript: I have been completely baffled by some of the other reviews posted for this product, which refer to a software module. A little research reveals that they are probably referring to another Nike product, the "Nike + iPod Sport Kit". The product featured on this page is NOT THAT PRODUCT. It is just an armband. Nothing more.
Works perfectly, and I have HUGE arms! March 20, 2007 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Did any of the other reviewers follow the directions? This kit works great! I used this plus the Nike+ sensor kit and an Ipod Nano (1st gen) to train for USMC OCS and it worked like a charm. And at 6'2", 220lbs and a 270PFT I have HUGE upper arms!! It is designed for one thing: holding the Nano&Nike+ sensor to your arm while running, and it keeps it nice and tight and flush, even when doing other exercises and crosstraining. The case is very thin and light, it is DESIGNED to be!!! It basically straps the ipod as tightly as possible to your arm, which I thought was great. Anyway, I think the other reviewers are idiots, this is a great case for runners of just about any size.
