Initially I was excited about this book as a companion to the Alli pills I purchased. That is, until I opened the Alli box and found there was ample literature about diet and exercise included. My advice is to see if you really want more information than provided, and then go ahead and buy the book. I wish I hadn't.
A Good Plan June 25, 2007 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
When I bought the alli starter kit it came with some little booklets that gave me suggestions, but this book gave me a real plan to follow. The menu plans are particularly helpful because I can't be bothered with calculating my daily calories and fat--and with this book I don't have to--as long as I follow the menus. And there are so many menus to choose from. The fitness plan is also very realistic--it helps get you moving without having to spend hours at the gym, which is exactly what I needed!
On the Road with alli June 25, 2007 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
The "Eating Out with alli" chapter was such a relief! I travel so much for work so diet plans are always impossible for me to follow, but this book gives so many options for what to eat at real restaurants that I actually go to. It doesn't just say "buy a tossed salad", it tells you what to eat where--that's a lifesaver for someone like me.
alli + the plan = no side effects June 26, 2007 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I tried the pill without the plan and had some side effects, but when I followed Dr. Apovian's plan I was fine. This book helps me stick to the diet longer.
Alli- Finally-a diet aid that works!! August 9, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I'm one of those people that has a very slow metabolism so in the past I've had to nearly starve myself to loose any weight. I've been on alli for almost 5 weeks and have lost 9 lbs. That's a great accomplishment as far as I'm concerned because I LOVE to eat, especially ice cream! The diet, low fat, is fairly easy to follow however grocery shopping and taking the time to check out the contents of items takes a bit longer than I like. Fortunatlly my support system is GREAT! My husband is behind me 110% although he loved me as I was...but I didn't. I like the responsibility alli takes in communicating with me, reminders, etc. I have a bit more to loose but the future is looking great. My advice; 'Try is you'll like it."
