Younger Mama January 27, 2007 36 out of 38 found this review helpful
At 32 years old and the mom of an 18 month old, I was looking for something to motivate me to lose those few stubborn extra pounds. I wasn't really expecting to look younger, but to FEEL younger with the extra weight off. I was immediately drawn to Dr. Bravermans belief on the importance of a well balanced "rainbow" diet. I often give my son better quality food compared to what I was puting in my mouth during the day. The rainbow diet is easy to follow and I never run out of things to satisfy my appetite. This book gave me the motivation to eat well everyday, and to take the proper supplements that would "prevent" various "pauses" in the future. I not only have lost weight, but feel so much more energized, and my "mental fog" is lifting. I want to live the healthiest life I can for my family, and this book helped me realize that the Brain and it's chemistry really can effect the future of my wellbeing. As an Acupuncturist, I strongly believe in preventive care, and this book really teaches you how to prevent dis-ease easily at any age! THANK YOU Dr.Braverman for motivating me to be the youngest me possible. This book was a breeze to go thru, and I really enjoyed taking my personal test. I am highly recommending this book to my patients, family and friends.
Fabulous! March 25, 2007 31 out of 34 found this review helpful
Without a doubt the most comprehensive book I've found on the holistic practice of medicine. And this book IS about medicine, AND a wholesome "Rainbow Diet", as he calls it (but varied according to your particular malady), AND the use of the far superior bioidentical hormones, AND most important of all, the connection and absolute interdependency of brain and body! There's probably very little in this book that your own various physicians don't already know, but the organization and application of the knowledge certainly appear to me to be a completely different and a far more effective concept. However, it sort of excludes all the specialists. Or so they would probably think. Only GPs need apply. And Oh, if we only had more GPs like this Dr. Eric Braverman! When was the last time your GP ordered blood work to determine ALL of your hormone levels? And what physician does NOT know the importance of adequate and balanced hormones in each patient? The nephrologists will think, "That's not my problem". The orthopedists will think, "That's not my problem". Even the cardiologists will probably think, "That's not my problem." WRONG! And if you ask about vitamin therapy they usually say, "There are plenty of good multivitamins over the counter, by all means it can't hurt for you to try one". And if you ask about herbs? Go on; just ask your doctor what herbs would help your condition. He'll probably act like herbs are either some kind of voodoo, or are totally insignificant. WRONG AGAIN! Dr. Braverman said so. READ IT. You'll like it. It addresses ANY condition you could possibly have, and plenty that you didn't even know that you have. I'm serious. This is preventive medicine at it's best. And it just MIGHT lead you to a much healthier, happier, more productive AND longer life. It can't get much better than that!
A personal trainer January 17, 2007 18 out of 23 found this review helpful
I love this book for the way it goes at the idea of "quick fitness" that everyone is overpowered with on television. The same meatheads that used all kinds of pills, powders and other ways to do what they wouldn't just work to get are the ones leading the charge.
Dr Braverman is taking it right where it needs to be. If you want to be good and get better then start to work and keep it going. Some use the term motivation but what we all call motivation is really nothing but the most hated word in the english language - discipline.
Thanks for the great book Dr Braverman.
Loved the PBS special and the book, too January 9, 2007 16 out of 22 found this review helpful
I saw Dr. Braverman on PBS and was immediately hooked. His message is powerful and I can't wait to use some of his principles to start to feel better and younger. He covers more than just skin and all the stuff I've heard before and tells you how to rejuvenate yourself from the inside out.
Your Personal AgePrint September 19, 2007 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
A few years ago I read The Edge Effect and got impressed with the work of Dr Braverman. Now in "Younger You" I found even more evidence that feeling younger... and getting younger is a feasible option for just about everyone. Each of us can reach for a longer and healthier old age by applying what Dr Braverman outlines in such eloquent way. The AgePrint worksheet in this book is incredible useful and directs you immediately to the core problems or pauses you may have in aging. To go beyond what is in the book, I found it useful to download the more elaborate AgePrint Worksheet from www.pathmed.com. Reading this book made me feel younger and has changed my priorities!
