Product Description Here is the first in a new series of spellbinders written specifically for teens. Bethany Salem is a pretty normal 16-year old, except for one thing ... she's a Witch! When her boyfriend Joe dies in a mysterious car accident, she vows to find his killer. But when she calls on the magickal Hounds of the Wild Hunt to catch the murderer, the members of the Witches' Night Out coven get more than they bargained for. Will they catch Joe's killer in time, or will the killer catch them?

Somewhere on the way to the bank... May 31, 2000 17 out of 23 found this review helpful
Somewhere on the way to the bank, Silver has forgotten that Wicca is a Religion. She places much, too much emphasis on Spells and little on Religion. I am very concerned that the Coven in this book decided to call upon the Wild Hunt. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever consider calling upon the Wild Hunt. I think that Silver has had a serious lapse in judgement putting this into the story. I am sure that a few unsuspecting teens will attempt the same. If I was a 15 year old (I'm 38) and not Pagan, I would have probably loved the book. I read the book to see if I would want my 12 year old daughter to read it. I think I'll wait a few more years. I don't need her to get Silver's slightly distorted belief that the answer to every little problem in your life is to do a spell!
Silver portrays women in a bad light! April 18, 2000 15 out of 49 found this review helpful
This is yet another example of how the new age market tagets teens. I am also very upset by the cover--where a underweight, half-naked, young woman is provocatively trying to get out of jail. Women and witches have been trying to gain equal rights and freedom from discrimination for years. Books, art, or music which continues this prejudice does nothing to help the women in our society. As a counselor, I am asked why so many of our young girls are underweight and unhealthy. I tell them to look on the T.V., check out the latest pop singer, or look at messages given by the AMA. As a pagan, my faith is accepting of differences, and we feel that all are equal in the eyes of the Goddess. Ms. RavenWolf, who doesn't have the guts to use her own name, is doing a severe injustice to those of her gender and her faith. I urge you to strongly reconsider buying this book. For the teens out there, please find other books which are not published by Llewellyn, and you will find a much better quality of work.
Witchs' Night Out May 2, 2000 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Like all the other fabulous books written by Silver this one ranks right up at the top. I recieved the book on Tuesday May. 2nd, and could not put it down till I was finished. It is both a Fantastic read and will keep you on the edge of your seat. It is one of the best Fiction/Mystery Novels I have ever picked up.It blends Witchcraft and Mystery and puts you right there in the story. It is true what the Book conveys:"Night has fallen and Magick is afoot..." It is a must read for the Young and Old. Both thumbs up again to you Ms.Ravenwolf and keep up the Great work.
Marvelous and Bewitching July 30, 2000 10 out of 14 found this review helpful
I am a 16 year-old Wiccan and even though most people doen't like this book. i loved it! Now, i'm not the avrage teen "witch" I actually hardly ever cast any spells. i mostly focus on the spirituality. I liked this book because I could actually relate to the charecters. It's very imaginative and it takes the religion of wicca and mixes it with real teenage problems. It actually teaches karma and what happens if you don't follow it's rule. These are teenagers with real problems and I couldn't stop reading the book. i don't know why people seem to despise Silver ravbenwolf so much. She's a great writer and I love her books. Keep on writing Ms. Ravenwolf!
Terrific new series debut! April 17, 2000 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
This first entry in a terrific new young adult series raises the standard for series fiction. The diverse characters, the mystery to solve, and the touch of occult make it enticing. Somewhat like Nancy Drew, Bethany Salem lives with an eccentric housekeeper in a nice large home while her father (a NYC detective) is kept busy working in the city. She drives a red Camaro and has a circle of friends with whom she just happens to practice witchcraft. The emphasis on working toward good is very subltly entwined making it uplifting while not preachy. RavenWolf is a fine storyteller with exquisite pacing. Highly recommended.
