What's not to love? November 22, 2006 54 out of 59 found this review helpful
Well, I thought this was an amazing story. Extremely erotic, emotional, funny, sweet and extremely erotic. I have no choice but to recommend it to anyone with an interest in M/M romance/erotica. I am going to be honest I recognized no flaw, I guess I was too busy enjoying the lovely characters.
I don't care much about plot, everything is old and has been done before, sometimes better, sometimes not. If I was looking for an astounding plot, however, M/M romances would be one of the last few places that I would look. So, let this be a little warning to those of you who are plot driven. BEWARE!
I have read countless M/M romantic and erotic novels. When I say countless I mean that I lost track after #282 almost a year ago. Every time I pick up a new one I think I know it all and it could not possibly have any effect on me. I am always wrong. It takes no effort to enjoy this book.

This was an excellent M/M erotic romance. Cowboys aren't usually my favorite, as they are so overdone. However, Langley manages to make this story fresh. Jamie and Ethan are a good couple, and the problems they face in their relationship, with family, society, and work, are realistic and often sad. The sex is frequent and steamy (explicit) without being repetitive.
There are a couple of things in the story that stood out as being particularly well done. First, there is Jamie's older brother's relationship with Ethan. John is straight, and has known Ethan was gay for years--and they are still friends. Holy Moly, Batman! It's nice to see a straight male character that isn't bigoted, or has secret homosexual leanings. John is a well-developed secondary character who takes part in the story. Second, I like the fact that Jamie and Ethan have known each other for years. Since Jamie is 11 years younger, their relationship was necessarily different in the past. This makes their new found emotions more poignant. It's not the typical love at first sight--more like seeing possibiltiies that have been right before your eyes the entire time.
Hot sex, touching romance, a plot with some depth--I will definitely read more from this author. Thankfully, The Broken H, the next in this Ranch series, is finally available. And, I love the cover art!
Engaging M/M erotica romance ! November 18, 2006 24 out of 27 found this review helpful
The previous reviewer comments the romance is based on physical attraction but this is M/M erotica romance. Of course sex is the driving force! I do not expect or accept anything less. However Tin Star is not just sex. There is a solid plot and engaging characters and the lovers' relationship does evolve though more at the physical level which is where the fun is. And what is hotter than 2 cowboys/ranchmen in love! I read this first as a e-book from Loose ID and have no qualms about purchasing it in good old fashion paperback. In the past few months more M/M eroticas are available in print and I hope Torquere Press and Loose ID will continue to keep the printing machines busy. Now if only Changeling Press/Amber Quill Press/Samhain/Ellora's Cave will join in!
Favorite M/M Romances Ever September 25, 2006 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
If you've never tried m/m romance before, make TTS your first. I did and have been addicted ever since. Ethan and Jamie are absolutely yummy together. They have a love between them that the reader can feel through J.L. Langley's touching and sometimes humorous depictions of their relationship. This is a beautiful and romantic story about two men who fall in love--a must read for fans of real romance.
There's a book in here somewhere November 20, 2007 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
I was extremely disappointed in this book. The book holds real promise and has a great plot. What I didn't like was that several times throughout the book the author crams major plot points and events into three or four but doesn't hesitate to spend six to ten pages describing the main characters having sex. Now there's nothing wrong with sex, but to condense several days and weeks worth of important events into a few paragraphs, only to be followed by a six page blow by blow of quickie is beyond ridiculous. I expected much more from this book.
