Product Description In 1987, the first Predator movie was released, garnering an Oscar, huge audiences and an instantly loyal fan base. Five years later came the first of the best-selling Predator novels. What accounted for the success of the series? It combined seemingly disparate genres - science fiction, action and horror - with unforgettable characters for a fresh experience. In this novel by New York Times bestsellers, Michael Friedman and frequent writing partner Robert Greenberger, humans have all but destroyed the earth, creating an opportunity for unscrupulous moneymakers to take advantage of the destruction. One family, the Ciejek clan, have made their fortune exploiting Earth's misfortunes. But with power comes corruption. The members of the Ciejek clan are at each other's throats, enlisting the help of the fearsome Predators to settle the score. When the Predators arrive, however, the brutality they unleash is far beyond what the Ciejek family could have imagined.

Not my favorite, but still a decent read November 16, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book continues on the trends set from Forever Midnight. That is these are the " Hish " version of the Predators. Call me old fashion, but I much preferred the Yautja versions myself. However that is a different debate all together. I found this book to be a decent read altogether. I agree with the above reviews that the human characters weren't terribly interestingly enough. I really found myself not caring who would live or die when the inevitable chaos came. Overall If you like these kinds of books you will enjoy it, it just won't be a favorite .
Just AWESOME. October 30, 2007 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
This was a MARVELOUS book! The main story between the feuding family was written VERY well, and the story with the Predators was equally as good, and tied into the human's story beautifully.
Michael Jan Friedman and Robert Greenberger totally outdid themselves on this, I found myself staying glued to the book for hours and not wanting to put it down... the only thing I'll give away is that this book really went back to basics... the hunt being sacred, all of those weird things J.S. put into "Forever Midnight" were gone.
Such a breath of fresh ever, and right now, I'm glad F.M. was written, because if not for that book, I don't think this would have been written.
Really, if you wanna pick up Forever Midnight, go for it... but this is a much better read all the way around, and truelly won over an old school Predator fan. Thank you to the authors who wrote this! Outstanding!
Predator: Not Fresh but Bloody... November 6, 2007 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
We were really looking forward to Dark Horse's latest Predator novel, especially after the last awesome novel by John Shirley who really outdone himself, even though he took some liberties. Those liberties were fresh and cool, unlike this latest novel.
This new book by authors Michael Jan Friedman and Robert Greenberger is chock-full of problems and lacks a much-needed thrilling background for The Hunt of the Predators.
After such a colorful and great world-building that John Shirley brought to Predator Forever Midnight, Flesh and Blood is mediocre at best. The world of Felicity is pretty bland and boring a sbackdrops go, and creates a pretty lifeless alien world that could have otherwise been interesting and added to the color of the novel.
The main storyline is pretty bland too. We could not find great and interesting characters in any of the human characters. (Not really in the Predators, either, but they were more interesting than the bland human characters.) In a pinch, the main storyline is just about two rivals in the Ciejek clan, one good and one evil. Been there, done that.
We just really couldn't get into any of these human characters. Overall, the story is just OK, but nothing really truly original and ground-breaking. The action scenes were very Predator-esque, but not the best we've ever read.
How can an alien race such as the Predators, with all of their high technology, and having been hunting the human race for centuries, not be able to understand the language by now? The main character in the human side, Andar Ciejek, although touchy and feely and caring of his human compadres, just couldn't build enough steam for us as being a truly cool and interesting character.
The new movie coming out this Christmas looks fantastic, despite the small town scenario instead of a deep space epic adventure that we all have been hoping and dreaming of. But with the upperhand of actually seeing ultra-cool special effects of both the Aliens and Predators, along with action sequences that look mind-blowing, the live action motion picture will win over a mediocre novel any day of the week.
So, our advice for authors: If you are writing either an Alien or Predator novel, and want it to stand out, then write a stronger background storyline with awesome settings. Not a planet that resembles earth so much that it just doesn't stand out.
Predator: Flesh and Blood is pretty good, but nothing truly fresh and memorable.
Most Cowardly Predators Ever August 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Luckily I picked this out of a 50cent bin, which is about all this book is worth. Predators kill, kill and kill some more, but keep forgetting to ask somebody why they have been lured to that world. They even kill people who aren't armed or attacking them (somebody just smoking a cigarrette?). I was waiting for them to hit an elderly home or a nursery school at some point. In my eyes they appeared very cowardly hunting as a pack, a very lightly armed not-so-violent group of people. And so much for being rewarded for actually killing a Predator, because this clan makes sure you are beaten down for that. I was rooting for the bland characters and enjoying the action (which was written well and the reason for the 3rd star).

in this book the predators are more like mercenaries for hire. a kind of good/bad thing. a good book but come on, predators being bought!!! thats just wrong.
